Justified was more than a TV show! In the six years each and everyone of us have had a place to share our love of Raylan and company and in that share a part of ourselves. You were a comfort for me when I was sick and that will be with me forever. So Justified was much more for me! And yes I will miss Raylan so much. We needed to resent someone for Raylan not getting a life with the woman he clearly loves!!! So sorry Richard but you took his happily ever after! Or we could question Winona. She has a history of wanting Raylan followed by dumping him...just saying? ?

She has a history of wanting Raylan followed by dumping him...just saying? ? I get it, you're right...it seems like much more than just a tv show, a Community! and yes, it's easy to blame Richard for the outcome of Raylan/Winona. She was kind of predictable. One thought, when she came to Raylan to say "..he could be with her and still be you..." she was coming off of 5-6 months of taking care of a newborn, exhausted and overwhelmed, (not to mention most of her pregnancy she was alone) and then the heart murmur...she was in no position to be making long term promises...for anything...neither one of them was making a decision based on real thought and planning, just a shot in the dark, maybe this could work out. Also I have to think there would be some underlying resentment that Raylan took soooo loooong to be a part of his daughter's life...Willa was about 5 months old, right? when daughter and father met? Kind of forgot about that...as Winona left the motel room in episode 7, the look on Raylan's face...what just happened here? He was not expecting that! Still happy to see father and daughter together in the park!

Here I go defending Raylan...how many times did she offer him happiness and then smash it! Even this time...he was going to Miami for Willa. And Winona discusses dates...men her mother sets her up with. He encourages her...he accepted it was hopeless to want them to be a family. She made the big offer...like the night she left Gary and took him to bed....and he loves her! She is his true weakness. He loves her no matter how many times she smashes his heart. And look she did it again....and we see on his face...in his eyes..the love will never die! And she knows that!!!!!!!!!

Wonder what would be their status in another 5 year time jump...remember in Yost's recap, he said writer/producer Fred Golan thought they would get back together again and then break up again, in the future...always coming back to each other...where are those wonderful fan fiction writers? can you tell us a version that puts Raylan and Winona back together?...I love so many of your stories of the alternate universe of Raylan and Winona.

I was reading through all the final episode articles, and Timothy said he would be interested in playing Raylan again, a couple of years down the road. I think he said maybe a miniseries type deal. That would be great. I can totally see FX agreeing to that. I believe they own the rights to TV Raylan, right? Or can someone else, like HBO create a Raylan series? I'd love to read that article. We need a thread with links to all the great press out there right now. I'd like to read that one too! any idea of where you saw it?

I can't wait until Justified is available on Netflix. Right now, Amazon Prime has an exclusive on the series. I happen to have Amazon Prime because I save enough on shipping this year to pay for the membership. And I buy each season on Amazon (it's not available on Prime until an entire season has aired), as I don't have FX on my cable subscription. (Last night was a joke. It was not available on Amazon until much later today, atypical. So, I had to go over to iTunes and buy it. I saw you had to do the same, Justified CEO. Are we loyal, die hard fans or what??? I would have paid most anything to see the finale STAT.) Justified never enjoyed big ratings over at FX. FX says they weren't concerned. But we all know a series has an new afterlife when available on Netflix. I can't wait for a new audience to discover the secret of what we've all known for years . . . that this show is some kind of special. It will be interesting to see if there are a lot of folks checking out Netflix to see Justified, who never were aware of it before. I have been buying each episode of S6 on Amazon Prime, for sale as of around noon or 2pm the day after airing. I did not have to wait to buy the entire season at one time. Is that what you meant? (I don't have cable either, had to go to my folks house each Tuesday night to get my Justified fix.) Then watch it again on Wednesday. I will be buying the blue ray too as I love having the extras, commentaries, etc. It will be out in June, a big improvement over past years when we had to wait til December or January! You know when Deadwood was done, there was a complete 3 season set of DVDs with about 6 extra discs with all kinds of extras added. I think there were 19 discs. I wonder if Justified will have a similar set...if it had additional material, more commentaries, more outtakes and deleted scenes, cast interviews...wouldn't that be fun! (I am thinking of the S4 shower scene with Jackie Nevada, which we heard was shot, but not used!)

Did anyone catch in the Miami office...when he speaks to charlie...that is their marshal advisor!!! He finally got on camera. Like the new hat...those of us who watch and read everything...the new hat was designed for timothy and yes this one he kept!!!! I know it is a kindness...all the talk of spinoffs and miniseries. Of timothy showing interest in playing Raylan in miami.... Makes the withdrawal bearable....well almost!!!! I think he is slowly realizing Justified and Raylan were a gift!!!! He will be forever Raylan...coolest character ever!!!! Same applies to Boyd/Walton. Joelle/Ava to some degree. Still wish they gave us a bit more on Winona. In four years she tried with Raylan and as parents made it work. His badge isn't the issue this time so...Richard seems more Gary than Gary! And punk is not short for pumpkin! Right on Raylan!!!! Not stubborn Winona...he adores his little girl...his protective nature is always alive. Thank you! I liked his new hat, too. It doesn't really go with his Miami tee and overshirt/jeans? But in a suit? Whoa it would be sharp.

I left a thread on general asking those gifted fan fiction writers who reside here to treat us to one of their gems...fill in the four years? Tell us why Winona smashed his heart again. And yeah I can envision her wanting Raylan again....Richard is just the new Gary!!!!!!
And per "Cowboys and Indians" article Justified will be everywhere...Hulu and Netflix as well as amazon when season six is done...all six seasons....binge time for everyone!!!

Yep, ripe, I can totally see an opening for a movie. That's why I loved the ending. Winona has been a thorn in my side since season two, but I don't blame her for moving on with her life . She has her daughter to think about now. It's not about Raylan anymore. Timothy said Raylan did not change that much throughout the seasons. Raylan is who he is. And he was never a man made for marriage. He loves hard, but he's a hard man to tie down. I called it on the last scene with Winona and Raylan in the hotel. The look on Raylan's face made me know they would not be together in the end. But it's nice to see them co-parent like healthy adults. The R/W scenario stayed within Elmore's world. Which is what GY and Timothy were trying to do. I have a related question, haven't seen it come up here yet... Rachel Brooks, Seattle office, was the one notifying Raylan with the newspaper article, about the possible sighting of Ava, right? So, does Raylan tell Rachel he checked it out and it wasn't her? or does he tell her what he found and how he left it? He won't want anyone else snooping around... Or is the story of Ava's "death" that he fed Boyd, also the story he gave to Rachel and the Marshall's service? This lie might leave a trail to follow... Just a small thought I had last night after watching again. And what is that small gold bit on the brim of Raylan's black hat? anyone know?

I think he'd tell Rachel he checked it out, but it was not Ava. Rachel is strictly by the book. She'd turn Ava in, and lil-Zac would be in foster care. And Tim mentioned what was on that hat in one of the thousands of final episode interviews, but I can't remember what he said.

I just Googled Tim's name the night after the final episode and a bunch of interviews came up. But I really could not tell you which one. It was one of the first one's posted the morning after. That much I remember. I'll try to find it. **Update Think I found it. Or at least he repeats a similar sentiment in this interview. Hat has a bullet nick and a matchstick in the band. Designed by timothy and kept by timothy! I think it was to honor Elmore all the way. Same as the book! The one he gave to gutterson and Elmore's fav. Got gutterson away from the fairies!
No I doubt he told Rachel the truth...he described her as the junior marshal to Ava! Is that a demotion? A training step? Rachel is too by the book.
And since no one else...a classic Raylan line about shut up or I will put you in the trunk was actually used on him...it was so great. Another throwback to season one...and Dewey!

Was anyone else turned on as he walked into the office...the shitload of swagger...thank you Rachel! I teared up as the non-goodbyes went on. Especially Art and Raylan...kind of wonder if nelson had not interrupted...what Art had to say? And him in the elevator listening to life going on.
And why was he hesitating? Was he already aware of the future failure with Winona? It never works out for him! She by the way is in marriage #3!!!!!

All,
Walking dead. Home after another trip around the world.
Motor. Great hearing from you. And I get what you are saying. It wasn't so much the time jump; but how blatant it was. Justified's core audience isn't the regular Joe. It is people that appreciate the visual arts. And we don't like it dumbed-down.
The show, IMHO, could have faded to black after RG didn't shoot Boyd. That was the "inch of progress" they wanted to convey.
Everything else could have been extrapolated.
After spending 6 years and 6X12 episodes, I couldn't believe I would go from my usual watching the clock like a game, and asking myself what are they trying to do with the last precious minutes? I couldn't believe this period would be 1/3 of the episode?
But, all in all, Justified served a ravenous precious set of people. Our criticism was always at the margins. I spent time this week with people in Europe that are Justified freaks. Critique? Yes. Question of love and a sadness of ending? Not just us, but other people around the world.
Again love to all my friends on this board. And I hope to continue to maintain relationships. What was our passion was larger than ourselves.
Fargo S2?

Are you saying you didn't like the finale? I accept that but I must ask...are you that surprised that we get to know where the three majors ended? Dare I say was the ending more emotional than a man would want? I loved knowing Raylan is no longer an angry man! That he is a loving daddy! Sadly Winona smashed him yet again...he will never stop loving her! Rachel is in Seattle. Ava had Boyd's son and Boyd is a preacher in prison!
Also they left open options to give us a movie...a miniseries... More Raylan!!!!
Oh Kaitlin (Loretta) is doing the finale of her show and the guest star is Jere burns! Duffy is with Loretta...ha ha.

Alright, ripe...I have to defend my girl. We have NO idea what happened with Raylan and Winona. It's obvious that they still have affection for one another. Maybe being together didn't work out for them, but they seem dedicated to raising their daughter together. Maybe the split was mutual. We don't know. Richard (in the approximately 30 seconds we got to see him) does not seem smarmy and slick like Gary. He seems like a nice guy. Am I disappointed they aren't together? Absolutely. Am I surprised? Nope. Is it all Winona's fault? Nope. Do I think they're done with each other in the romantic/sexual sense? No way. JCEO, I get what you mean about the FOUR YEARS LATER, but I don't think the ending would've been as affecting without it. I'm glad I know that Raylan is a good father. I'm glad I know that Ava has a son. And the final scene between Raylan and Boyd...perfect.

I loved the jump too. We all wanted closure for the characters that have become so important to us. I'm willing for some things to be open ended. But we'll always wonder what happened to Tony Soprano, won't we? We got to see Ava in a much better place than she has ever been. We got to see Boyd behind bars where he belonged. As horrible as Boyd was, we loved the character. If he had been killed off it would have been just too much perhaps. Raylan seemed so much calmer and happier. He HAD to return to Harlan and he HAD to face his demons in order to become whole. He still works outside of the law sometimes, as we saw he lied to Boyd and probably to Rachel about Ava. I loved him all the more for protecting her and her little boy. I loved seeing him with Willa. It was bittersweet. We all thought he would go to Florida, marry Winona and live happily ever after. But the surprising outcome of her being married to someone else shows that Raylan can roll with the punches now. He can be a good dad. He and Winona can be civil to one another even though something went down to separate them during that four years. And so we will wonder, and that's fine. Not all questions were answered and the future has not been laid out clearly in some respects. But the jump did bring a lot of closure for me. I found it satisfying and that is all I was asking for.

IMO, the final scene between Raylan and Boyd was the most moving of the entire series. I loved this finale. So satisfying in every way, not predictable, full of surprises, 3 main characters all survive, hints of the future, good byes to favorites. It's all good! I think it would please elmore leonard.

I loved how they made a quiet moving tribute to Elmore. That hat was present in five episodes and yet when Raylan put it on we all knew!!!!!
And the book! Not just that Raylan had read it...ten times! He gave it to Tim who as we see the last of the Lexington office the argument in jest is about the book!
I bet Elmore is laughing up there!!!! Take it easy, dutch!!!!

All, Per usual I get 1 out 100 comments right and am wrong 99% of the time I guess it all goes back to my own personal thesis: I never saw the "big three". The show for me was all about Rylan and his arc. Could he come back home, confront his childhood demons, and be a better Marshal than he was when he rode into Lexington. (case in point - how many people were complaining about S5 and maintaining the Ava plot line. I wasn't the only one thinking/hoping she would die). Ripe, I am very emotional for a man. Enough were my kids don't want me in a movie theatre. For me the touching parts - again in my Rylan-centric world - were (a) the bookending of our Loretta saving Rylan's life by kicking the gun and the look on her face when she was seeing if he was dead. Loretta may have acted stone-cold; but don't tell me Rylan wasn't a father figure to her, (b) Art giving him back his badge and (c) Rylan twitching and stopping himself from killing Boyd. Those three things were emotional to me as a father figure and a maturing professional. Boyd? Really? A man who killed so many people including ones that he swore allegiance to? Boyd shouldn't have been preaching Jesus. He should have been in solitary awaiting the death penalty in my mind of right and wrong. I will grant that Ava deserved to live and move away. Her murder of Bowman was Justified. Her murder of the pimp was Justified. And she was set up by a corrupt prison guard. Technically she was a part of a conspiracy and RICO. But that fell apart. But in what world, is Boyd's actions Justified? Respectfully JC

He's going to die in prison...justified! He will never know he was a father...justified! He thinks she died...and tho he wanted to kill her...she was his dream and only love...lost forever....justified!
Compare it to Raylan! Released his demons and Arlo...justified! In the end left Harlan whole and moving forward...now a stubborn man and not angry...justified! Left Lexington with his friendship repaired...and fatherly friend repaired...I will miss Art and Raylan most...justified! Got to be a real daddy to Willa....so justified. And civil with Winona..not so justified. Just once in some future time when she makes her move...just say No!!!!
So Raylan won and Boyd is repeating his losses!!!!
