I'm still trying, mare! I've just had so much going on. Didn't get to my e-mail for three days and just found 123 new messages. Feel like I am drowning some days. I haven't forgotten Deadwood!

The avatar from "this is where I leave you" makes me smile. He was wonderful in that one. They should have given us a true love scene...the one when she was caught by Judd...they could have given us so much more. Clearly Wendy truly loved Horry and she was his sunflower! Just saying......

Episode 12:
General Crook and his cavalry ride into Deadwod as does magistrate Claggett from Yankton. There are more peaches involved at the Gem and a parade is held for the visiting dignitaries. The magistrate says he never saw Adams and never got Al's money. He drops hints about Al's previous murder problem.
Doc brings Jewel's new boot and brace to her with orders to report any problems. He asks for Al to help care for the minister, whose condition has become dire. Al later puts him out of his misery. I've never figured out whether he did this out of compassion or not, but he seems very affected by the experience, if only for a few minutes. He usually kills or has people killed with no regrets. Was it my imagination, or was there a tear in his eye?
Alma's father offers to handle her finances, but he admits to being in debt again. (Big surprise.) Alma has had it with him. She offers to give him the money, but tells him she wants him out of her life. She goes to Seth for help. Her father threatens Seth and Alma with innuendo about Bram's death. Seth promptly beats the shit out of him and tells him to get out of camp. Seth rips the badge from Stapleton's coat and marches to the Gem where he has a heart to heart with Dan. He tells him that if Alma's father lives he will return to NY and tell his lies about Bram's death. Men will come from NY to seek retribution and Seth knows that Al and Dan were behind the death.
Adams returns to town, but the magistrate tries to shake Al down for more money. Adams slits his throat. How sad...there's no honor among thieves.
Seth asks General Crock to guard Alma's father, while Cy wants them to stay and work for the town. When Crock learns that his men are whoring and buying prospecting tools, he fears a mass desertion. He rounds them up and departs, taking Alma's father with them.
After a steamy assignation with Alma, Seth tells Al that HE will be the sheriff. As Seth and Alma stare longingly across the street at one another, Doc and Jewel engage in a sweet waltz at the Gem.
I liked this episode because it tied up a lot of loose ends. Alma's dad is out of town, Seth is the sheriff, and it looks like Deadwood will be recognized as a legitimate town and part of the new territory. (I can't remember how the magistrate's death is explained.) Plus, we got a great love scene. There is a lot more drama to come for this wild and woolly town.

well, I finally have a chance to catch up here... Lots of action in this episode, but I have to admit I was just waiting for the seduction scene, Seth and Alma...it was steamy, although brief...the tension in the room from the moment Joanie took Sophia out of the room, Seth's hesitation at the doorway...I loved it. The kiss, slowly undressing, all those layers... I thought the scene of Al taking care of the Rev was amazing...sort of caring for him a twisted way, relieving him of his pain, calling him brother, as he perhaps remembered his own brother...all the while using this as a lesson to Johnny, how to kill a man by this method...very powerful...and then to go immediately to deal with the scheming magistrate and set up yet another killing. Seth claiming the sheriff's star and that job was another powerful moment...The power lies all in the hands of these two, who seem to be on the opposite sides, but cooperate about the future of the camp and who's in charge. A lot of story crammed into one hour...the military presence, Jewel's new boot, Doc, Alma's snake of a father and Seth's explosive outburst in handling him. This was a good one. I wish there had been more of Seth and Alma, the man waited a long time for her. Absolutely loved the ending scene of Seth watching Alma, and Alma knowing she was being watched, dissolve to Al watching over the bar with Jewel and Doc dancing together all around the saloon...carefree. Great ending to the first season. (Thanks Monday for keeping this going... will we take on Season 2...??)

mare, I'm on if you are. It's a way to pass the cold winter nights that are coming. I use my On Demand a lot to catch up with the series that I watch. Sometimes I'm just too tired to watch when they are originally on. I can't promise to view in a timely fashion, but will do my best!

mare, I agree about waiting until after the holidays. I am up to my neck right now and have family coming for Christmas. My oldest and his girl friend will be with me for the better part of a week, and there will be 12 for Christmas day. I have a crisis at my house right now and have to call in the experts. Just one more thing to get done. Then I will crash!
Happy holiday wishes to you, also. And to all of our friends here.

I also read this and have to say if someone doesn't get this sorted then there needs to be some serious arse kicking taking place. With all the rubbish that has made its way on to TV and remained no matter how boring and tedious the fact that this show was cancelled in the first place was a crime. At the very least it needs to be finished in a manner deserving of the quality of writing and acting, either by another series to close off the story lines, or even better...a movie. I personally would sell parts of my anatomy to get this done. I think I.M and in particular T.O.would be even better now that they have a few years under their belts and are more 'seasoned' if that's the right word. T.O. back as Seth Bullock being incredible ? Well in the words of Raylan... I would bet my left nut on that!!

It just seems like they are waiting on David Milch to turn in a script. HBO has basically committed to it. I imagine they would cough up a serious budget and give TO and IM whatever they want. Give the man his $7 million!!!
