Sorry, I haven't been on for a while. I've been in the Boston area babysitting for my daughter during her tech week and opening weekend. She's the Witch in The Wizard of Oz at the Northshore Theater in Boston. I was reading the program notes before the show and was reading about Lance Roberts (The Cowardly Lion) when I came upon those golden words "This is Where I Leave You!!!!!! Well, I HAD to talk to him and so I raced backstage, but he was meeting some friends and was leaving with them. Well, I was seeing the show that Sunday also, so I had one more chance. This time, I caught him, standing alone and taking a breath, and I introduced myself as Laura's mom. I told him I was excited to read that he was in TIWILY. He seemed surprised that I had heard of the movie, but I told him I was a HUGE Timothy Olyphant fan, so now I had TWO reasons to see the film! I asked if he minded if I asked the dreaded question "What's Timothy Olyphant really like?" He laughed and said he absolutely didn't mind at all because TO was really fun and great to work with. He described him as a "super-chill surfer dad" and said he was fun, friendly and well-prepared. Apparently Tim came on set after they had been filming for a few weeks and Lance said he there was some kind of giant meal setup (sorry, I'm not clear on whether it was a cast event or a scene in the film) and Tim made a big deal about how great it was that they had done this for him and how "they shouldn't have" and cracked everybody up. Lance said he only had one scene with him but hopes he can work with him again. MCM, you'll be pleased to know that Lance worked in Michigan for a period of time and loves Detroit, the UP, the whole package. He should work for the Tourist Bureau. Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I was astonished to have a TO once-removed experience from watching The Wizard of Oz. images.proboards.com/v5/images/icon-options.png

When I go to imdb, there's no mention of Lance in the cast of TIWILY and there's no mention of TIWILY on his imdb page, but he mentions it several other places and on his Facebook page and I know he's a well-respected actor, so maybe he joined the cast late, who knows? We'll know when we see the movie or when the page is changed, I guess.

One step away from Tim book, great story and further reinforcement, if it were needed, that our guy is totally worthy of our loyalty.

hi, what a great story you have to tell...Only a couple of degrees of separation! I went on the film IMDB site and clicked on additional cast, moved to next page and there was listed your new friend, Lance Roberts, I forget the character name...but how cool is this? thanks for sharing!

That is so cool, bookperson. Isn't it funny how exciting it is to meet someone who has met and worked with Tim. So good to hear that he really is a great guy.

hi all- just found this article referencing a release date for this film: (from theislandnow.com site- newspaper)
Tropper said “This is Where I Leave You” has become his most popular book among fans, as most people who attend his appearances tend to ask about it more than anything else he’s worked on.
“It’s also paid my mortgage for the last few years as well,” Tropper said.
Tropper, an English professor at Manhattanville College, has written six novels and is the co-creator, writer and executive producer of the Cinemax action series “Banshee,” which was picked up in January for a second season.
Tropper said most of the film rights to his novels have been optioned by production companies, but didn’t expect “This is Where I Leave You” would be made because it has gone through a number of potential stars and directors.
Tropper also wrote the screenplay for “This is Where I Leave You,” which stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey and Jane Fonda and is slated for an October 2014 release.
OCTOBER 2014...something to look forward to AFTER SEASON 5 of JUSTFIED...boy, it seems like a long ways for now.

Hmmm. Usually movies released October/November/December are vying for awards season. The studio must like this one. I hate having to wait that long, though.

Hey Guys, I saw this thread and wanted to add, in case no one saw them yet, a link to some pics of TIWILY...I didn't want to start a new thread.. www.laineygossip.com/Timothy-Olyphant-on-the-set-of-This-Is-Where-I-Leave-You/27075Guess the long hair makes some sense now...LOL Bookperson, loved the story....PM me your daughters name,(if you're comfortable with creating a potential fan for her) I love to see new up and coming acting talents and comedians...What has she been in so far?? Or is she mostly stage?? I do set medic work now on the side, and sometimes I get to see things being filmed..It's quiet interesting stuff....Mostly in NY NJ and PA though...Haven't been offered anything further yet..I also cover some large races...Its a lot of fun...

It's even longer than that, now. By maybe a couple of months? As Monday said, we're worried we'll see Raylan with hair this long.

Well; we know his character gets to Jump in a pool and life guard out Tina Fey's Wendy from the book; so at least we get to see him wet.
His hair is much longer now; could it be for the troglodyte hunting gun slinger role?
