You did MCM but I've been away for the last 2 weeks (celebrating) so I wouldn't have been here to see one of your excellent videos LOL Happy belated birthday, Weegie! Thanks kmmo.

Watched Ironside last night and guess who is in the cast...Brent Sexton..aka Hunter Mosley....he plays Ironside's old partner and may be the one who accidently shot and paralyzed the hero and has become a lost drunk for that incident and it was a well done story...he will be on in the future as well.

dID YOU ALL WATCH "tALKING bAD" Oops. Caps. After the broadcast? Gilligan noted that Walt in the meth lab immediately preceding his death was like Gollum with "the precious" ala LoTR. I though that was a great analogy. I liked the finale; a lot. but as to what Weegie said, there is verrry little humor in the BrBa drama. Only Hank and Saul were a bit of comic relief early on. I think that is why I much per fer Six Feet Under and Justified as my all time favorite dramas. Both have a vein of humor running through them like a vein of opal through granite. You never know how the humor will be colored, but you know it will momentarily flash before you and add liveliness to the story. I also like that reference to the Lord of the Rings, I can see it... Boy, when Saul was introduced, that sure lightened things up a bit, didn't it. The story really needed that. He was so refreshing as a break from the madness of Jesse and Walt's bungling enterprise. I take it that you two -MCM and kmmo- would recommend Six Feet Under? I was thinking of getting it from the library. Good idea? I never saw the Sopranos, any opinions about that series? Geez, there is a lot of time to kill before Season 5. I would recomment Six Feet Under. It took me a while to get into it. You grow to love the characters and the stories. I would say that Justified, Six Feet Under, and Deadwood are my favorite TV series. I never watched The Sopranos. I don't usually like shows about the mob or gangsters. or vampires.

kmmo, you and I are on the same wavelength, I guess. These are some of my faves, too. But I did love the Sopranos, too. I haven't had a premium cable channel since about 2000, so I rented a lot of these shows before Blockbuster went belly up. I own Deadwood and may eventually buy Six Feet Under.

Deadwood has just started again on one of the cable channels over here. They are showing it every night from series one hopefully through to the end of three. I have the dvds but I cannot resist watching them on TV.

I loaned my Deadwood box set out to 3 different folks at work and the last one still has it.
When ever Tim is on TV, I can't help but watch, even if it is something as dumb as Gone in 60 Seconds, which as been on tedious replay on Encore. The only one I skip is I am number Four. If the Olyphant parts are on, Maybe I'll watch those, but knowing that Alex Pettifer had a temper tantrum and walked off the set when he found out that Tim's # 4 salary (reportedly only 6 figures) was higher than his- makes me want to bitch Pettifer.
Hey, I just said "If the Olyphant parts are on, Maybe I'll watch those" Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha. I love me some Olyphant parts. Hee.
Re: 6 feet under: I have all seasons (somewhere) except the last which is in N.C. with my bro. I'm willing to mail them 2 at a time to anyone willing to make the commitment to watch and enjoy. Only if you promise to return or pass along to another forum member. Sorry, UK girls, they are in NTSC format, not PAL.

That's a good offer, mcm. When I last checked Amazon the price was still a bit high for me, although I did pay about the same for Deadwood. I just have to get to the point where I am willing to fork over the cash. I think I had already posted that I rented the first few seasons at Blockbuster. My local store never carried the last few seasons and then they went out of business, so I missed about half of the series. Color me bummed.

Mine has most of these HBO/Showtime series available by the season. There is sometimes a waiting list, but I'd rather do that than pay the price to own. Although I did buy "Deadwood" the complete series, a year ago. So glad I did! Did you see the post I did on the rewind thread about the season 4 Justified being released on Dec 17th?? Some good news there!

I have never watched it but I am watching the final season of Dexter....it is back to what made it so watchable in the beginning and I am really enjoying it. I have also started watching Ray Donovan and think it is really rather good. From our side of the Atlantic you should try to catch Broadchurch and The Fall on BBCA they are both great. I have been very disappointed in Top of the Lake....it's what we call in Scotland "Dreich" (miserable cold and wet!) The Fall, is that the one with Gillian Anderson from Xfiles as the woman detective? I just watched the fist season on Netflix. It was very compelling, but kind of creepy as regards the criminal. Is that the same version or is it an American version? I am looking forward to S2 of this one. As far as I know it was just available in the last few months on Netflix. (found this while browsing in some old threads...)

Yes indeed it is Mare, the guy who plays the killer is Jamie Dornan (from 50 Shades of Grey) he is excellent in this programme. The second series is just as good and they are making a third.

So, now that Justified is over, I have really gotten into Red Road. Jason Momoa is very easy on the eyes. Bates Motel is really creepy but entertaining.

Has anyone else picked up on some of the NBC more edgy stuff? American Crime or American Oddessey both seem different...congrats for thinking outside the box! I think network is finally learning from cable...may even be good for Timothy if the quality is there...

Last season, I watched Broadchurch, but heard that the British version was better so I just finished watching season 2 of that version. The same actor plays the lead in both. I think I'll stay with the BBC version if they do more. I also love Outlander. I have to turn away from some of the more violent stuff, but the photography is beautiful, the story is intense (very hot love scenes, girls,) and the acting is quite good. The only way that I get this is because when I signed up for Comcast triple play, I got Starz free. No way I'm sending Comcast one more red cent. But this would be worth buying on dvd.
Speaking of buying rather than selling one's soul to Comcast, I bought season one of True Detective because I had heard it was so good. You want to talk dark and edgy. I am only halfway through and had to turn it off for a while.

What is Red Road? I've never heard of it. Psycho scared me to death when I saw it. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Bates Motel. I am only halfway through and had to turn it off for a while. I'm anxious to see Outlander, Monday. I've read the books and I'm excited to see how it plays out on screen. True Detective was too much for me, but I'm hoping S2 might be more palatable. Taylor Kitsch, who was in Friday Night Lights, is in it, along with Vince Vaughn. I enjoyed American Crime. I've loved Timothy Hutton since Ordinary People (his show Leverage on TNT was good fun) and I thought that Felicity Huffman was wonderfully unlikeable. The plot was twisty enough to keep me interested, but not too twisty to believe. If you have Netflix, Bloodline is good, too. I'm stuck on episode 5, but that's mostly because I'm so busy with the end of the school year. I'll binge the rest when I'm out. (19 school days left!) I'm looking forward to Aquarius this summer. I've always found the whole Manson family thing fascinating and bizarre.

wkw, I haven't read the Outlander books. I didn't even know they existed until the show started airing. Someone else mentioned Bloodline. Dolphin, maybe? I don't have Netflix, but it sounds good.Do you know what the next season of True Detective is about?

I watched Bloodline, with Kyle Chandler, sissy Spacek, I thought it was pretty good...especially impressed with KC as he made me forget he was Coach Taylor and completely became this new character...and I loved Coach Taylor! It's on Netflix. True Detective does not sound very appealing based on what I'm reading here... I watched Rectify on Netflix, kind of a tough subject and an unknown lead actor to me, but the story really held my attention. Also watched "the Fall" with Gillian Anderson which I liked early on, but it got creepier as it went on...but I still wanted to see what happens...She was amazing, I thought. I am watching too much TV I think, time to read some books...Anyone reading anything wonderful?

I'm a sucker for detective novels, I've finished all the Michael Connolly ones and I am now reading C.J. Sansom novels set in Tudor England, he is a lawyer who "detects"! I also have a slew of Harlan Coben novels to get through

I watched Titus Welliver starring as Bosch on the Amazon series...I should probably read those- liked the main character a lot.

wkw, thanks for the info on the new season of True Detective. Sounds just as grim as season 1! I'll think about it if I live through season 1.
mare, I'm adding you to the list of people who have recommended Bloodline. Since I don't have Netflix, I'll think about buying when the price is right. Sounds good. I'm a fan of KC. too.
As far as reading goes, I am guilty of too much TV AND too much reading. I just read Coben's next to last book. I just can't put him down. I am always first in line to devour Connelley's Lincoln Lawyer books. I wanted to read something totally different next, so I am reading Dorothea Benton Frank's The Last Original Wife. (I get a lot of my books from a discount site, so they aren't the newest releases. This one was published in 2013.) It's a biting, but hilarious commentary on husbands who have left their wives for much younger "Barbies."
I will check into the Sansom books. Love detectives, love the Brits. Thanks for the heads up.

What is Red Road? I've never heard of it. The Red Road is a drama series that airs on SundanceTV. It's in its second season. To sum up the plot, I just copied from Wikipedia. But it is a very good show. Has a laid back feel like Justified.
