Just when we thought that Justified was going strong, getting better press, etc., etc. the Emmy folks, in all their wisdom, have changed the rules. No longer will we have to be bothered watching a leading performer and a supporting performer receive their awards in the Actor and Actress category. Now there will be one category for "Actor" and one for "Actress", lead or secondary role. To add insult to injury, there will also be no differentiation between "series" and "miniseries", because miniseries are apparently in a decline (??). To make up for this change, there will be 6 nominees in each category, not 5. Soo.....I would say our chances of seeing Tim, Walton and rest nominated for Emmys, much less winning, are pretty slim. But....be of good cheer, because they are making this change so that they can give an on-air award to people for comedy stunts. Honest. Now, I appreciate the work of stunt people, without whom we would have a lot of actors on crutches, but really?? I guess there must of been a great shout from the large masses who watch award shows anymore. All of those voices crying out, "We don't wanna see stars! We wanna see stunt people!" With any luck at all, there will be a great outcry from the industry and, from the public. Google this news for yourselves and see if I've made a mistake or got something terribly wrong. Also, for those of you who are pure of heart, awards are not the only thing, they are often not based on performance but popularity, etc. etc. Still, it would have been nice to see the boys nominated again before the show goes off the air. I should also say I feel for ALL of the performers in TV shows on this one.

LOL That's what I get for posting so soon after I wake up! When I read it again, for the fourth time, it was obvious! At least I got my fingers exercised!! It IS for movies and miniseries. I still think it's crap because I believe as many actors as possible should be nominated, but at least the boys aren't in trouble yet!
A big apology to those who read my whole rant and went into spasms of sorrow.

Good news: MCM must have scored high in reading comprehension on her SATs
Bad news: Since Justified has gone off the air Bookperson has apparently taken to starting her day with an 'adult beverage' of some kind. Book' I feel your pain.
Good news: Drama emmy roles have NOT been combined.
Bad news: They have moved Downton Abbey out of Miniseries and into Drama.

Cry Raylan and unleash the dogs of war.....or words to that effect. I am prepared to email the President himself if they are not nominated this year.

OHMIGOD, I can't tell you how embarassed I am! Since I am still working as an "Information Specialist", I am doubly embarassed! I hereby promise to make NO proclamations until I have read the source material and diagrammed each sentence thereof.
LJ, the sad news is that I rarely partake of "adult beverages" at any hour, and thus, have NO excuse.

You DO have an excuse, sweetie---you're human. I don't want to even think about some of the tricks my mind plays on me. The latest is that I wander around my house, over and over, trying to locate something that was right in front of me all the time. I wish there was a pill we could take to give us back the razor sharp minds of our youth, but alas, we are destined to mess up sometimes. All I can say is "Join the club. You're one of us!"

Have you ever heard Bill Cosby's routine about that? He talks about wandering all over the house looking for his glasses and they were on top of his head.

Read the article...it is just combining movies and mini series into one category. But now Downton Abbey is moving to drama series. Seems once you establish the show as say a mini-series...it must remain there. You labeled it. Or they need to define what is a mini series, a movie and a drama series...that is where they need to make changes.

Ditto your words. Upper class wankers. I thought that kind of ignorance only existed in the British class system.

That really does suck. I live in an area that is a lot like the area depicted in Justified. "poor people", "white trash". This is how some people live. Their stories are just as interesting, just as important as others. So screw the Emmy snob voters.

It is upsetting that the show doesn't get appreciated but good that..that the magic of Olyphant and Goggins earns them both great reviews and a very good chance at noms. It is about time that magic they bring to the screen is rewarded. If they need to submit...that time in the truck on the way to see Nicky is classic Raylan/Boyd. And of course my fav this season is all of "Kin"...they were just so very good.

Plus it had the bonus of hair-falling-down-in-his-eyes-barely-civilized Raylan. (Uhm, that is one of the Emmy nomination criteria isn't it---- ridiculous hotness?) This was a terrific season of Justified, whether it draws awards recognition or not. It seemed like we got more TO time than in any season past other than season one, which was still trying to get its footing.

Read the Gold Derby analysis of why the snobs at Emmy won't honor Justified. So they don't like white trash, hillbilly etc. Guess they also don't like immense talent, great writing, acting and....what a crock. And they are doing their expert thing...here comes my question...Jeff Daniels (loved him on Newsroom) is on all the lists...Tim is on one. Isn't Newsroom out of the time for Emmy consideration. It is June 2012 to May 2013, right?

Newsroom's first season would be up this year (June 2012), but Jeff Daniels, as much as I love him, isn't up to the competition (and neither is the writing on that show). I'd give TO a better shot.
