We should call in Seth Bullock. He's a more immediate response, hands on type. He'd administer a righteous beat down for their slothful ways.

OK. I can't seem to find any information on this just now. Can anyone tell me whether it is the same people (members of ATAS) that nominate and give out the Emmys? I always thought this was similar to the Oscars where it is people in the business who nominate and award. Is that even true? Thanks.

My feelings exactly from TV.com:
The F.U. to FX dramas Sons of Anarchy and Justified were eligible this year right? So where were they this morning? SoA's Katey Sagal and Maggie Siff and Justified's Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, and Neal McDonough have major beefs. We're still waiting for Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter's c-word tirade on Twitter. Justified sneaked in an acting nod for Jeremy Davies, but he had to enter as a guest actor to get it.
This "miniseries" bullshit Missing is a miniseries, allowing Ashley Judd to earn an acting nomination? American Horror Story is a miniseries, giving it a leading 17 nominations? Downton Abbey isn't a miniseries anymore, even though it was last year? Stop the madness and the cheating!

Why am I sitting around gorging on chocolate? Despair!
"Doom despair and Agony on me" Does anyone remember that humorous tune?
Does anyone do paper mache? We should make him an Emmy and send it to him via dark pony tail media gal. ( She says with a twinge of half- seriousness)
And speaking of Emmys, I couldn't agree more with the article that notes the snub of Emmy Rossum on shameless.

LOL. Thanks for reminding me to read it all the way to the end. The writer is so correct. How can Justified not be considered one of the six best drama series on TV ?

Very detailed and carefully considered write up. This batch of Emmy nominations was as perplexing as the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and Golden Globes earlier this year, when they both overlooked Justified for its stellar 2nd season. Though, to be honest, I never put much stock in the Golden Globes. They seem heavily influenced by hype, frequently bestowing honors on projects anticipated to be great that ultimately prove to be disappointing.

I about died when I saw this from the Cleveland.com site... "My dream would be the academy's nightmare -- a pack of angry "True Blood" vampires shows up on Emmy night, and they're being led by Raylan Givens." Wouldn't we ALL love to see this. Especially me as I think I've said before that Justified is my "pleasure" and True Blood my "guilty pleasure."

I think they are whacked. It seems like you have to have some way out there performance, not subtle excellence, to get a nom. I think there is a lot behind the scenes stuff that goes on that would probably curl your hair. I just plain don't get it. Ticks me off. I feel bad for TO and all involved with Justified. They deserve better.

I think they are whacked. It seems like you have to have some way out there performance, not subtle excellence, to get a nom. [...] As far as drama is concerned, it is my impression that they tend to prefer characters that are serious and edgy or -- ever since The Sopranos came along -- extreme. Raylan Givens is way too much fun and not dark enough. I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan and Bryan Cranston is amazing. But lately there has not been that much development in his character. Cranston is repeating the same old stick and there is nothing wrong with that, he is superb at it, but does that call for three Emmys and a fourth nomination? It would, if there were no other drama shows and actors around to speak of. Oh well, the Emmys and the Oscars have frequently been a source of frustration to me before...

The day after our favorite show and beloved Timothy were robbed of their rightful place of the highest Industry recognition.
Many of us are ... flat out angry. Why? It's just a show, right? Wrong. Everyone here knows that Justified is one of the best (if not arguably THE best) shows on television today. The show is so unique, so special, so entertaining. And we're left to ask why were Tim and Walton stripped of the nomimations they so rightly deserved this year?
My feeling is ... I am angry over the unfairness of it all. What is it with an iconic awards show that allows for manipulation of category submission ... just so a network can get more Emmys over a competitor network? One recent article talks about the crazy rules which allow a show to choose to enter as Series/Mini Series or Actor/Supporting Actor/Guest Actor is much more than strategic ... it's cheating!!
I watched performances from every nominee this season. And I feel I can be impartial.
Bryan Cranston deserves to win the Emmy in the category this year. He was given a script that so showcases his range ... it was a gift to him as an actor. (Anna Gunn was also given a gift in that same script, and it earned her a deserved first time Emmy nod.)
I am a fan of Mad Men and Downtown Abbey. Jon Hamm got a pass this year based on last year's performance in 'The Suitcase,' where many voters thought he should have won. By contrast, his portrayal of a 'nicer Don Draper' this season fell FLAT. This was a flat, lackluster season for Mad Men ... with the exception of 2 episodes that blew my mind: 1) The ad agency sunk to a new all time low by prostituting Joan in order to get a coveted car account, and 2) after embezzling from the Agency all season, the buttoned-up Lane hangs himself in his office for his coworkers to find him. Madmen received 3 of 5 the writing noms (btw, Justified writers were robbed too!) ... 2 noms were highly deserved for these particular eps ... the 3rd was an excessive nomination and not deserved. Bottom line ... Jon Hamm was not a stand out in these high profile episodes. He really wasn't given any material all season to warrant a secured place in this group of nominees.
Michael C. Hall. Dexter has been so good in past seasons. Not in the final season. He was nominated because this was Dexter's last season ... for the body of work. (In a 'fair world,' Hugh Laurie's final season was predictable ... but he acted circles around Hall and should have been nominated instead.)
Hugh Bonneville is the spoiler. Last year's Best Mini Series winner, Downtown Abbey, is a great show. The casting, the acting, the costuming, the writing. But of all its actors ... Hugh Bonneville is the one actor in the cast, in my opinion, who is NOT worthy of an Emmy nomination based on the material he was given ... certainly not at the expense of superior performances by TO!
Timothy deserved to be in this group of nominees based on his performances and the material given to him. I would rank this seasons Best Actor Drama performances as follows:
Bryan Cranston Timothy Olyphant Steve Buscemi Damian Lewis Hugh Laurie Jon Hamm
(Yes, I would totally bump Michael C. Hall, and especially Hugh Bonneville!)
An insanely obsessive number of nominations for Mad Men (AFC), Downton Abbey (PBS), and American Horror Story (FX) ... these network studios are the culprits in using unfair tactics to promote their shows. Category manipulations ... can you say 'buy a vote?' Did, as one article said, FX decide that AHS was the only show who could rake in their precious Emmys ... so to hell with Justified, Louie, Southland, and Sons of Anarchy when it comes to Emmy promotion? (Katie Sagal turns in excellent work. The fact that Regina King and Lucy Liu weren't nominated for the final season of Southland is a crime!)
There are lots of theories as to what went wrong. But bottom line is something smells, and it smells bad. And if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck ...

When I read the announcement yesterday, I felt so bad for all the amazing people on that show that I got even further upset thinking that, if I had such a sinking feeling, they must feel dropped down a freakin' well.
In the immortal words of "Deadwood"'s Calamity Jane, "C*cks*ckers!!!!
Yes, MCM, I DO remember "doom, despair and agony on me"! Good call. It fits the occasion perfectly.

You can't even make a comment on the Emmys.com unless you join as a member. I was going to give them my 2 cents worth, though that's probably why they do it that way, so people can't comment and make them look stupid. Anybody that knows anything about excellence in television knows that Justified deserves to be in this mix. And if you don't nominate an excellent show and excellent actors, you are stupid.
