The TV channel that aired Justified where I am showed all 6 seasons consecutively so we didn't have any of the long gaps between seasons - I feel like I've been watching Justified continuously for about 18 months! As soon as the series finale aired, they started to re-run season 1, and yet even with all these opportunities to see the show, none of my friends have ever watched. Hopefully any Emmy buzz for Justified will raise interest in the show.

I was able back in the early seasons using my DVD as a loaner to get my brother, my friends son and one more to watch....and all three got hooked¡!!!! May be they liked setting their own schedule or no commercials but once you meet Raylan and Boyd....you can not stop!!!!!!

I have tried to get friends to watch the show so that I'd have someone to discuss it with - but no luck so far! I do wonder if Justified had explored the core characters/relationships more if that would have broadened its appeal, but I suppose that would make it a different show entirely!

I thought they did explore them deeply and it was the draw more for women...men loved the gunplay. Just the Raylan/Winona love story and the ava/boyd story alone was explored to a good degree. But the one truly explored....Raylan/Boyd and even more Raylan/arlo and art!!!!!!!.

But the one truly explored....Raylan/Boyd and even more Raylan/arlo and art!!!!!!!. I wouldn't have minded even more of that. I'm interested in a lot of different themes generally, but I think that the characters was Justified's strength. I really loved everything that had to do with Raylan's pastm his childhood, and the relationship with his father, and although I don't always understand Winona, I liked their complicated relationship. And just generally there are so many amazing characters. But I always felt that sometimes the plot made characters do things that were quite out of character, I suppose? I've had a little trouble bringing together the almost stylized violence and coolness, reminiscent of Italian Westerns, and the character moments that mostly rang true to me. Does anyone else feel this? I hope there will be some Emmy recognition for the show at last, since it's the last chance.

I think with 13 hours per season they had stories to tell and inner turmoil to show and at times things got missed. But we got that Peabody for character development. As to Emmy....sadly I fear we will be snubbed again....with it being our last chance? It I think affects us more than the actors....how ironic!!!!!!

While I'm THRILLED Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn were nominated for Bloodline (Lead and Supporting Actors Drama), I am heart broken that Justified was totally snubbed, again. Justified's final season was wonderful!!
I don't feel Kyle and Ben took TO's and Walton's slots. I think Terrance Howard was next in line for Lead Actor. Mad Men's final season was so lackluster, especially Jon Hamm's performance, imo. As a Breaking Bad fan, I've tried to get into Better Call Saul, but just could not continue watching past the first couple episodes.
SPOILERS: Bloodline submitted episode 12. Wise choice. It showed Chandler going from a law abideing, Golden Boy, Detective sibling to losing it and killing his black sheep brother with his bare hands, within 10 minutes. And Mendelsohn played the jackal brother who goaded him into doing it. It was a powerful, powerful episode for any actor play.
Justified submitted the series finale as their Emmy submission episode. It was also a good choice. Especially for Walton. It should have also been nominated for writing.

I see the lists up for the top awards...no love for Justified so far...so disappointed! I went thru the whole list...could not find Justified mentioned....I looked quickly, but...nothing! not even for the writers...who are the best! There are too many shows, too many categories...best commercial, for crying out loud... When there are nominations for awards for Bob's Burger's and SHark week and So you think you can dance, should I expect to see an award for a quality show like Justified...?? This is a lot of bullshit! It's all about money, I think. And FX did not spend any to promote this show... I'm disgusted. We should have our own awards, here...best episode, best performance, funniest character, best written episode, best written character...it would be more fun than participating in this emmy mess... my 2 cents!

A total Justified lockout.
I am disappointed. I had genuine hope that Joelle Carter and Walton Goggins would be nominated for their stellar work, especially in “The Hunt.” It even seemed plausible that the show might, just might eke out a dark horse Outstanding Drama Series nomination. Or Mary Steenbergen or Sam Elliott might score nods as guest actors.
I honestly never expected TO to be nominated. There was too much competition from seriously good work in platforms with more visibility. Plus he didn’t have any hey look at me, watch me run the emotional gamut of the actor’s craft in fifteen minutes flat showcase episodes this season. (For the older members of this board, remember how Star Search contestants would annihilate the beauty and melodiousness of a song by running the lyrics through their entire vocal range?) Nah, instead he played Raylan Givens with absolute fidelity to the character and spot-on, pitch perfect acting from that poolside in Miami to the final warm, nostalgic look in his eyes at Tremble Prison.
Ah well.
At least loyal fans recgnized it for the hidden treasure it was.

I have to say I'm not exactly surprised. While I'm always happy IF my favourite shows, films and actors get recognised, I've given up on pinning any kind of emotion on it. Awards are no markers for quality or even popularity. A lot of the shows I've loved over the years never got a nod and they''ve become classics still in a way. The whole awards thing is more about politics and financial concerns than anything else, and I'm just not interested in that. It becomes a concern only when cancellation threatens ...

And what difference does it make to a show that has ended...? Can't increase the ratings now...But I think thru the DVDs and the online streaming services, more people will find out about Justified and it will continue to gain fans...We were just the fortunate ones who have been able to watch and enjoy for the last 6 years AND we found each other, that has been a treasure!

I don't even watch the awards shows anymore. I might tune in for a short time, but once the "same old, same old" stuff starts, I'm gone. If there were any nominations for Justified, I would watch just because it would be something new. We always know who will win. Emmy should really start looking at some of the other work that is being done. Okay, Modern Family and Julia Louis Dreyfus are funny. But every year? There is a lot more comedy out there. It's the same in every category.
I remember, a number of years ago, when the fabulous Tyne Daly won her fifth Emmy. She won those Emmys for several different roles in different productions, with the exception of Cagney and Lacey (4) and she deserved every one of them. At that time she was lauded as the most celebrated actress in Emmy history. (She was nominated 17 times.) She ended up winning her sixth for her role as Maxine on Judging Amy. This was her best role, for me. She just kept getting better and better. She was always one of my favorites. But if she had won for the same role every time, I would have started to wonder if the ptb were really looking at other actresses. I suspect that there is quite a bit of politics involved, and there are a plethora of good actors and actresses nowdays, but if you win every year, year after year, for the same role...what's going on? Is Emmy just lazy? BTW, I'd put Joelle Carter up against any young actress out there today.

Just breaks my heart that our last chance to be shown love from the peer group is over...with no love! Yes we are the lucky ones for the joy we shared in living in Harlan one hour every week and making wonderful friends here! I strongly suspect Timothy cares far less than we do about awards....it is the story and they told a wonderful story.

Is it because it wasn't as popular as the other shows on the list? I don't know because there are only a few on there that I watch and we have a different dynamic over here. I think it's shocking that it has not been recognised in it's final (and one of it's best) season and I have said so in a few of the reply boxes. However it's loyal fans know how good it was and perhaps through the DVD sales others will realise this too.

All the nonsense about poor Jon hamm not getting his Emmy....really. From all I read this final season was. nothing special yet the talk is they will win the best drama and Hamm likely best actor. Think the only response...boycott the Emmy's! And if modern family wins yet again...sorry but six times for a mediocre show. Emmy's suck.

Think the only response...boycott the Emmy's! And if modern family wins yet again...sorry but six times for a mediocre show. Emmy's suck. I agree about Hamm's final season performances in Mad Men. Lackluster at best. He's also nominated for a comedy Emmy. Maybe he'll win that one. I'm over the moon that Kyle and Ben were nominated for Bloodline. Because their performances are deserving of a nomination. But so are Justified's. FX does not campaign for their shows like the other networks do. I'm reading lots of groaning from fans of Justified, Sons of Anarchy and The Americans . . . about how their shows and stars were shafted. AGAIN. Walton Goggins should have nominated along with Ben! TO should have been nominated along with Kyle! The show should have been nominated, period.

My mood is improving. The critics are crying foul...Justified was unjustly snubbed and that at least softens the blow. In particular for drama and lead actor!!!!! Does it help anyone else? Side note....Mags is nominated as supporting for the Americans....their only nomination. And yeah I plan to boycott plus got no reason to subscribe to the Emmy magazine anymore.

Dolphin, I agree that promotion of a show helps a lot. FX always treated Justified as a "poor relation." They had a terrible re-run policy. If you couldn't watch on Tuesday night you better be a good hunter in trying to find a repeat.I always recorded it on DVR so I could have the whole season until I could buy the DVD, but not everyone has that option. I don't watch things on Hulu or have Netflix so I don't know if that option existed. It's just that they never gave the show a real chance. We always made it a priority to be there on Tuesday nights or to have another concrete option, but unless you knew how good the show was you might not do that and a lot of folks didn't even know that it existed. We often heard that the show was produced on a shoestring budget. I never really noticed, but that also shows that they weren't totally invested.I don't watch FX anymore except for The Americans. I am addicted. It's great. But then Graham Yost is involved.

FX doesn't truly support anything. Think AMC that even today is running Breaking Bad. Why does Rescue Me get replayed over and over but Justified ended and vanished. FX has never been much of a network for me and with Justified gone....so am I. I do agree even at our best they made watching the show virtually impossible. The nights I got up at 2am to watch three hours of Raylan...every November and December. But no more.

I agree, ripetebook. My television has not seen FX since Justified ended a few months ago. I don't watch one thing on that channel now.
