I'll be watching to support Natalie and because of Kevin Bacon. I still give this show 2 seasons tops. FOX has put a shitload of money into this show, so I don't think they're gonna be as quick on the trigger as they are with some of their other shows. But yeah, in my dreams she'll be readily available for the 6th and final season of Justified. Here's a video interview Natalie gave to MyFoxNY. www.myfoxny.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=8191932And she went Old Hollywood for her Premiere. Love the look, I just wish she would pick a hair color though.

She looks awesome. I think that's one of the prettiest dresses I've ever seem her in at one of these things.

I, too, have heard it is violent and I am not one for those kinds...love Kevin Bacon and James Pureoy but too much ick makes me have trouble sleeping. But the premise is good.

Beautiful dress.
My "ick" waterline changes with the type of "ick". Can't stand Criminal Minds, but some other nasty stuff doesn't bother me. Just plain gore doesn't bother me as much as horrible imprisonment or torture.
Okay...I just read that. Auntie Audrey is sorry. Everybody have a drink tonight to help you sleep......

I REALLY liked this show. Can't wait until next week. I'm hooked. And I don't mind the blood and guts. I hunt, field dress my own kills.
Blood and violence doesn't bother me; I also watch 'Hell on Wheels' and 'The Walking Dead'' and 'Bones.' Oh, and 'Justified.'
I really also liked Natalie's character. The one character I didn't like was Bacon's character. Another damaged male. (Sigh.)

I liked it a lot too WT. I didn't find it too violent or gorey(sp?) at all. But it is just the pilot so we'll see. The previews for what's to come look amazing though, which is good b/c I was kind of annoyed by the fact that I'd basically seen the whole pilot just from promos the past 4.5 months. I think it's going to be a big hit!!

There was a lot of exposition in Bacon's dialog, I found it off putting.
They just about lost me with the doggie killer scene. I can see a million women hanging upside down with their eyes cut out but one German Shepherd and I just about lose it. What does that say about our society?

DVR'd it, but after reading reviews and synopsis, I think I'm going to skip this. As much as I love NZ and the rest of the cast, there are things I just don't need to see.

I think maybe it has to do with the fact that people "can take care of themselves" in most instances, but pet animals place such trust in us.

I didn't see all of this; was watching something else and just changed channels a few times to see what it was like. I'm not squeamish---love "The Walking Dead"--- but this was a bit much for me. Every time I switched over, everyone was walking through dark, dangerous buildings and ended up finding dead, tortured bodies. Not for me.
westtexas, I think men can handle this stuff as bit more easily than most women. And Audrey, I'm with you. If I had watched the whole thing, I would have trouble sleeping. I think the reason that I can watch "The Walking Dead," but not this show, is that "The Walking Dead" is totally fiction, albeit populated by wonderful, relateble characters. That's the draw for me. This show is upsetting to me because there are true psychopaths out there who do this sort of thing. Thankfully, they are few and far between, but they are out there just the same and they are real and terrifying.
bookperson39, many moons ago, you said we could call you Audrey. Since ripetebook is here now, and we have at times referred to both of you as "book," I will call you Audrey from now on if that is still okay. Cuts down on any confusion.
And Audrey, as to your comments, and mcm's about animals, may I relate a true story? My brother and sil, had a precious cat, "Ginky." He got out of the house one day and they finally found him dead under a neighbor's shrubbery. Not a mark on him.. They never found out what happened to him. My mother was still suffering from the loss of my dad, and when I talked to her about it, it was very difficult. We suffer the loss of a close person most acutely. Perhaps we should equate the loss of a person much more than we should the loss of a pet, but it is not always so for those of us who feel that our pets are our "children." To try and explain this to my mom, I said that people can take care of themselves, but pets count on us to protect them.
We lost our cat, Sandy, two months before my husband died. Sandy had hyperthyroidism, which is common in elderly cats. (He was 18.) He had responded to medication for several years, but while my husband was terminally ill, he became senile. It was all I could do to take care of both of them. We lost him two months before my husband died. This was the beginning of a deep period of depression for me. It was as though I had lost a child, and then lost my husband. A lot of people think that this is silly--- that pets are just that---pets. But those of us who value all of those in our lives, and all relationships, whether human or animal, it is very important.

I watched the first episode last night and it is definitely gruesome but I can handle that. I think it shows promise if they can keep the story and the characters interesting and engaging

I went ahead and watched it for a second time. All the Kevin Bacon exposition was necessary, I guess, but it lacked finesse. Not on the part of the actor, but the exposition required to explain the premise was clunky. "He's got a cult" etc.
I thought Kevin Bacon's performance was great as usual. I thought Natalie held her own with the material too.
It is truly dark, but unlike Monday, I found it not that rooted in believability. Why would a serial killer target his own school? Don't most serial killers spread out their targets? How exactly does a guy flip from loving husband to serial killer? You've got to assume he was a pretty great guy to nab a professor in the likes of Natalie? Did his book get panned and he went wiggy?
Finally, I have a saying that any conspiracy theory is limited by the fact that the more people involved, the more likely it is to fail.
So may followers working together? Unlikely. At best he'd have one Lynette "Squeeky" Fromme somewhere; not minions crafting their lives around his master plan.'
So overall while I found the performances compelling, It felt like fiction to me, and in that, I think it lost something.

Totally creeped me out. I'll watch again.
This is the Pilot ... I'll give it a few to step into a rhythm.
The one character I couldn't stand is the female lead FBI agent. What a cliche.
Bacon is too damaged as discussed ... he'll have to toughen up to continue. We've got the background. The rest are interesting characters I want to know more about. Natalie did good! Nothing like Winona or the Hank's cuckoo girlfriend in Californication.

We, meaning me and Siobhan, are hopelessly hooked on this show! Great role for Natalie. Love her spunk in this show. Not so disenchanted with Bacon's character after tonight's ep...time will tell. I believe I judged too soon about his character in the show. Good for Natalie! She was a youngster in Pasadena, Texas and grew up in Monahans, Texas!

I know WT, the second episode was soo much better than the first. And I yelled when Natalie slapped Joe from across the table. And her and Kevin Bacon do have good chemistry too. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with the 3 followers who have her son.

It reminds me of Warren Jeffs. Cult crap. Creepy. The mind f...ker taking the weak over mentally. Even in law enforcement, apparently. Really like the show.
I'm with you, it is really developing and I can't wait until next week either.

The second episode shows here tonight and I am looking forward to the development of plot and characters, they are all good actors so if the writing is up to scratch it should be very good.

Alright...you and okeydokey have talked me into checking this out and giving it another chance. If this results in nightmares and/or insomnia, high electric bills from sleeping with the lights on, nervous tics, etc. I am holding you personally responsible!
Besides, I miss seeing NZ on the show she's supposed to be on.
BTW, the recapper over at TWOP put quite a few Justified references in her pilot recap. Including this one:

I imagine that any woman who has just had carnal knowledge of Raylan Givens would look like the cat who had the cream :-) Good luck with The Following.
