I haven't checked out all the links provided, so I'm posting stupidly blind. (Wouldn't be the first time. ) I can only state my Native heritage here. The bone tomahawk is a Native American ghost legend. Think of it along the lines that an owl is a messenger from the dead, which is also legend. I believe in them both.

Thank you so much, WT, for your unique insight in the bone tomahawk. I could look it up on Wikipedia ... but would never get the heart and the spiritual interpretation your firsthand experience brings. It's like the difference between reading a text description of the color blue, and then seeing the color blue in the sky for the first time. No comparison.

Apparently the filming has been pushed back to the spring of 2014. What does this mean for the hair???

Has it been written somewhere that Tim actually grew his hair long for the Bone Tomahawk role? Or some other role? I hope he cuts it before production of the 5th season of Justified begins.
He can always get extensions if he needs long hair for a role.

I'm wondering if the pony-tail hair is for The Mindy Project. I didn't see his name on the IMDb page for The Mindy Project nor TO's page as projects he's done. Maybe they haven't filmed this epp yet???

No Way. He probably just got that part thrown at him recently- is a Fox production, right?
Maybe we must resign our selves to thinking it might be a midlife crisis. *Sigh*

She's the reason he was on The Office in the first place (she was also a writer and executive producer) He's just a California dude who likes his long hair. But If he doesn't cut it I hope he at least trim it up to where it was in the Season 4 premiere.

No way can Raylan come back to season 5 with a pony tail. The only way I can imagine this is if he has been written to be "over the edge" due to all that he has been through. In that case he would be on leave. This would not be good for the story line if Raylan can't be working. Of course he could go renegade. I am sure that FX will make whatever adjustments are necessary, but since Bone Tomahawk has been delayed, I am hoping that Timothy will come back as the well-groomed marshal that we know and love. He can grow his hair out again next year for the movie.

Would a Sherrif of a small town be allowed to grow his hair like that? I'm thinking maybe it's for the other film "Carrion Road"?

my bet is it was for that role with Tina Fey and he just let it grow...think he likes it long...think back to season 4 when he made it clear he had no desire to cut his hair. But Raylan is not so lost that he would be all gray and a ponytail...it is simply not Raylan...so he is relaxing thru his summer and likely with Labor Day behind us and the promo shots in the works for season 5...he will cover the gray and cut off the ponytail...he loves the Raylan role and Elmore re-wrote Raylan to fit all Timothy has done with the part and out of deep respect Timothy would never do anything to mess with that image...My bet is our TO is bugging the writers and sticking that fine scottish nose in everything...he loves reporting EARLY and working on it. Raylan won't be gray and would never have a ponytail....and Gosh I hope he'll be a daddy this season.

How frustrating to hear that filming for this movie has been pushed back. Imagine what it must be like for Tim. I think this kind of thing happens frequently. Money falls through, or they can't get a certain actor at a certain time, or (heaven forbid) they decide they don't want you for the role any more. No doubt about it though, when the first pictures of Tim after his haircut surface, we'll all be here talking about it!

I think in this case they said the producers switched financiers. Late TO is better than no TO.

Oh be honest...so the movie got delayed. With Elmore gone but Peter Leonard working to complete the last book (that again includes much about the Raylan Timothy gives us) I am sure Timothy is full on focus for the 5th season...he truly loves all the aspects of Justified...he loves being in the writers room, being heard as executive producer and....oh yeah being Raylan Givens.

Thanks for posting this! I was just about to. It said this was a different "iteration" of the movie after a halt in production. Geez. I'm glad that our boy is not in it either, but at least it would have been work. Oh well. I don't see anything after This is Where I Leave You on imdb. What are all these directors, producers and casting directors thinking of???

Maybe he just wants to concentrate on the last season of Justified?

Maybe he just wants to concentrate on the last season of Justified? I'm guessing you are right! He has his wife and those three kids and driving them around and Kung Fu with his son and remodeling the kitchen and various charity work, the USOpen, ...how could there be time for more work, other than that last season of Justified? I'm hoping the movie people that see him in TIWILY will be lining up with jobs for him when Justified is over. Don't you think?
