Dolphin, you named some of my all time favorite movies. And as you an wkw mentioned, Prince of Tides sucked big time. I'm also a Harlan Coben fan, but have read mostly his stand alone books. Have only read one Mickey Bolitar. I really liked it and should go back and read the whole series. Tim as Mickey? Kind of intriguing!

OMG! Prince of Tides is the ULTIMATE example of brilliant book /horrendous movie. Conroy should have sued, lol.

I get that. Didn't mean to pounce, Dolphin. Sigh. Remakes are one of my pet-peeves. Sometimes it seems as though Hollywood has lost its imagination and can only recycle old ideas. Some movies are perfect as is and should be left alone.
It really made me not a fan. I resented what she did to the story.
I agree it's not the same thing. First,Argo is fantastic. And second, Ben does a great job in the role. It's not really 'about' him, anyway, it's an ensemble piece.

OOO, O000....Lucas just sold Lucasfilms to Disney and there is talk of making a Star Wars eoisodes 7,8, and 9. this means recasting Luke, Leia and Han Solo. I vote Tim for Han Solo. Make him eat some flap jacks and bulk up that 3o inch waist and presto! Han Solo. Think about it, Harrison Ford was about 40-ish after Return of the Jedi. There are a TON of fiction books by a really terrific Sci-Fi writer already written that start up like 5 years after that......

It's funny that TO was in competition with Robert Downey Jr for Ironman. TO is my favorite actor, and RDj is #2. I think RDj did an AMAZING job in Ironman. I loved it so much as is, I can't imagine anyone else in that role. Even Tim.
When I read "IT" by Stephen King I pictured Tim as Ben Hanscom- the slim, adult version of course. Something about the way they first describe him in the book- at a country bar knocking back whiskey in a denim jacket- it just couldn't be helped. IT desperately needs a remake. The miniseries didn't do it justice.

Some movies are perfect as is and should be left alone. I surely do share your pet peeve about lack of original material. When this period of history is reviewed ... where profit is king at the expense of quality and content ... where we regurgitate Part 2, Part 3, and CSI in every city, Law and Order in every crime division, etc. based on the ratings numbers ... it will become obvious how our entertainment was repeated ad nauseum. That goes for films, TV shows, music. Luckily, we're seeing some excellence in TV dramas, Justified being one of them. We humans thrive on something new and original. And I love the few who take a risk and bring it to stage, screen, or to music for the masses to enjoy. I'm waiting for our 'Renaissance' in all forms of entertainment and hope it comes soon.

Oh, wouldn't he be great? He could do the snarky, sly humor that Han Solo requires.

There is a fav movie that I think he could be so great in. It is "Same Time Next Year" made in like the late seventies and they are talking remake...update. It is a two person character study with love, history, humor and a huge acting opportunity....one I believe TO could just be so great in. It takes place over 26 years so he could be yougish (early 30) and ends at like mid fifties...alot of emotion with so much humor...and we all know he loves to find humor in even the most adverse type movie. I want him to be the focal point not some CGI and not some lost in the effects movie. He is gifted and this type of movie would showcase all his great acting chops and likely allow him to have some say...the star in the original was Alan Alda...need I say more?

I also loved Prince of Tides..warts and all...there is another Pat Conroy book/movie and it is Conrack (Jon Voight did the original) and again a human story and I think TO needs ones that show his very human quality. TO has such depth and big blockbusters hide talent for CGI----TO is a gifted ACTOR.

'book, I LOVED "Same Time Next Year." And yes, I agree. Tim looks young for his age, so with the colored hair he could play the male lead and then cover less and less of his gray as the years advance. This is an intimate, heartfelt movie, and I think Timothy would be lovely in a remake.
I agree with wkw that remakes can be absolutely horrible, so I would want to see the original script (with reasonable updates) and a fabulous director. Tim could handle the character all on his own. As for the female lead, I will leave that up to the rest of you. Wasn't it Carol Burnett in the original? I think I would like to see a softer, more feminine lead with Timothy. (No offense to Carol. She is marvelous. I have laughed out loud at her portrayals more times that I can count. And she is wonderful opposite Alda. ) But I see a different type of casting here for the remake if Timothy were in the part.

Same Time, Next Year, huh? I could see that. Now...give me some leeway here. I'm going to suggest an actress and you all might think I'm way off base, but we agree that the movie has comedic undertones (which TO does so well on Justified)...the first actress who came to my mind was Tina Fey. Much like Carol Burnett, she's the female comedic talent of her generation...she's in TO's age-range, and she's cute. She's done comedies, but never a really heavy drama, and if she's interested in acting beyond comedy, something like this would be a good segway. What say you all?
If not Fey, what about a reunion with Jennifer Garner? She does comedy and drama equally well, and we know they have on-screen chemistry...or Julie Bowen, from Modern Family, if she wants to transition to the big screen. Diane Lane would be another possibility (I love her!)
Crap. Now I really want this to happen. Sigh.

Maybe we should start a rumour that it going to happen and hope that the powers that be hear it. I like Tina Fey AND Jennifer Garner, I also love Diane Lane she can do light comedy too.

I think Han Solo will be played by a relatively young actor because 1) hollywood is youth crazy and 2) possible sequels. RDJ playing Iron Man is a freakish exception.

I think Han Solo will be played by a relatively young actor because 1) hollywood is youth crazy and 2) possible sequels. RDJ playing Iron Man is a freakish exception. The characters are older, therefore the actors will need to be older as well. RDJ (at 47) is not the only exception to that rule. Mark Ruffalo - 'The Hulk" is 44 Jeremy Renner, also in the Avengers (I forget who he plays) is 41. All in TO's age-range.
