They're also just referring to the tweets. I don't know, I'm not getting my hopes up until the network issues an official statement. And even then it's not set in stone that it'll actually happen. Would be amazing, though. TO with a white moustache ...

Would be amazing, though. TO with a white moustache ... The Hollywood Reporter is an industry trade journal. TO's available. Ian McShane is available. David Milch is available. This is how buzz for industry deals is made. All they need is some $$ and network backing to make it happen if the talent and writer are available. Keep your fingers crossed, as the time is right to do it.

Since it is becoming a thing even to pick up shows that were cancelled several years ago (Arrested Development for example), things are probably looking better for more Deadwood now than ever before. This is exciting, I would love to see a 10-years later kind if continuation.

HBO may need a winner and on most "best ever lists" Deadwood rates. With the stinker reviews of True Detective season two and their super competitive drive...Deadwood movie must look good. Plus right now Timothy is bigger than 2005 when they hired him....there are more pluses than negatives!!!!!!

Could also be he has been contacted on the sly as HBO is checking availability and interest in doing a Deadwood movie. All they need is a no from mcshane or Olyphant to kill the deal. No alma? No Anna gunn? No Saul? If this is going to happen they need the actors that told the story!!!!! Test the water before you dive in!!!!!

I can't imagine that they could get enough of the original cast, not to mention creator David Milch, to all become available for a project like this...not to mention the beautiful set, the Deadwood Camp was a very extensive and detailed. The money they would have to spend...and the actors are probably going to be very expensive...can you imagine they could get Al, Seth, Sol, Dan, Johnny, EB, Trixie, Joanie, Alma, Martha, Charlie, Doc and Calamity Jane to name the dozen main characters? I would love to see it, but I think the chances are very slim...I would hate to see replacement actors used for any of those main characters and yet all of them would need to be in the story, if you want the next chapter. If they did a 10 years later story, I guess many of then could be dead by then...but I don't want to see that story. just sayin'

Just saw this on David Milch's IMBD page... Ralph Richeson, who played EB Farnum's cook, Richardson, on Deadwood, passed away on 10/28/2015 at the age of 63.

The New York Times also reported that HBO's president of programming has approved a Deadwood movie to be written by David Milch.

It is perfect timing for Timothy! Raves for his Grinder trilogy and now big press on the Deadwood movie which puts his great Seth Bullock front and center. Now can we do a loud giddy yahoo? ?

I'm so happy I can't wait! I think this is one of the rare cases where a late continuation actually makes sense and feels organic.
Funny how a few years ago, before netflix and all that, it seemed completely impossible that anything on TV would be picked up again after such a long time. But now, with netflix and hulu picking up new and older shows all the time, nothing seems impossible.

Tim still seems doubtful about this. He was v. cautious in the red carpet interview at Hold Onto Me Darling's opening, and spoke more freely with a fan outside the show: "I asked him about the Deadwood movie. He said "never gonna happen"." websta.me//tag/timothyolyphant#56VUpRwRJYpzBgRD.99
