Please pray for West Texas from the FX forum. He is in the hospital in ICU, I am assuming pneumonia, but I'm not sure. If he stabilizes soon they will be able to transfer him to a better facility. Keep he and his family in your prayers. Despite some recent misunderstandings, he's one of the good guys.

As someone who was caught up in said 'ick,' I don't like to hear this about anyone. I'm definitely praying for WT and family.

I haven't been away... just caught up in the Olympics. This is the first I have heard about this, and it's so strange. WT has been on my mind a lot recently.
My prayers to our guy and his family. Hope you are well soon, West Texas.

OK ladies...step up the prayers. WT needs them badly. This is the message I got tonight from his DIL.
Thank you so much for your prayers. I don't know you, but I'm not surprised that you're such a lovely person since you're friends with my father-in-law. I was holding off giving information, because I wanted to have good news. Unfortunately, there isn't any. Because of his bout with smoke inhilation last year and severe pneumonia following that, other complications, and now this bout - his body just isn't excepting treatment. The doctors removed a good part of his left lung to rid it of scar tissue. He's on a ventilator and in a coma. All the family is here at the ranch. The Texas side and the New Mexico side. We're feeling helpless. No ceremonies seem to be working. But we know his spirit. He's a strong willed man. Just keep praying. I'll let you know if there's a drastic change. Teri.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. wkw, please keep us up to date.
Do you all remember before he started the "Art" thread? He said if he was feeling better tomorrow he would start the thread? He must have been having problems even then. He never let on that he had these problems. PRAY HARD, everyone.

Finally an update. I was beginning to fear the worst. Sounds like WT is quite a fighter. Keep those prayers and good thoughts coming, ladies. I did ask if there was anywhere we could send cards when he's ready for that. I promised discretion and a slew of good wishes.
Here's the latest from WT's DIL:
I'm sorry I have not been in touch. My husband and I don't live in this county and had to go on duty in a sister county for the week. The latest is that he's "semi-comatose." He'll open his eyes if my mother-in-law is stern for him to do so. She hates being that way with him, but he needs the mental stimulation. The hospital never transfered him, he wasn't stable enough, so they brought in a specialist from El Paso. None of us can go into his room, except my mother-in-law and his father, wearing sterile hospital attire. We can see him through a glass partition. It's amazing that such a tall man can appear so incredibly small laying in a hostpital bed. The staff on this floor is overwhelmed by his desire to live. And they have been more than accomidating to the practices of the Zuni culture.

Here's this:
all correspondence is being sent to his first cousin on his mother's side, because none of us want to stray 2 1/2 hours up to Odessa to the PO box. His cousin is coming out here on the 22nd of this month. They're very close; born only a week apart. She's a lovely, funny person and since marrying my father-in-law has become my monther-in-law's dearest friend.
He seems to slowly be coming around. His lungs were working at such a poor capacity that his blood became toxic with carbon dioxide. The night he went to the hospital he was having severe chest pains, couldn't breath, didn't know who he is and didn't know where he was. My mother-in-law didn't know if he was having a stroke or a heart attack. The doctors feel that the lack of oxygen in his body may have affected his brain function. Time will tell. He's such a strong soul that I doubt he'll be troubled with something like that for long.
The community has been wonderful. His brothers were here for the first week, but they all have their own ranches to run. Since they went home, people come from all over the county to volunteer on the ranch, bring food and feed, water, move livestock and check fencing. People are wonderful. All of you are as well. My mother-in-law told me your name today. With tears in my eyes, I say a sincere thank you.
Sorry, I just reread my post and realized that I made it sound like my father-in-law married his first cousin. We're all tired. My mother-in-law, who is just recovering from her own medical emergency is about to drop. Sorry, about that. My husband and I are about to take off back to Presidio in the next hour. Thank you for your prayers and support. And you're right, he is a great guy. I wish you knew him face to face. He's a fun, funny man. Full of life. Take care.
She also gave me an address if anyone wants to send a card. You can PM me and I will pass it along. I didn't want to post the address or her name without permission, so if you'd like it, just shoot me a message.

wkw, I sent a card and a message to westtexas and his loved ones.I am assuming that you have had no further news. I am very concerned. Is there anyway that you can contact the family?
Thanks for being our intermediary. I know that you can't work miracles here, but I am very worried. Isn't it something that we can feel so connected to someone that we know only online? My heart is breaking for westtexas and his family.
Also, I know that you and mcm are close. We have not heard anything from her in a while. This always concerns me due to her health issues. Hopefully she is just really busy.

If I don't hear anything more by the end of the week, I will send another note to WT's cousin, asking her for info and giving her my e-mail address. I figure no news is good news, but there's no way to know.
MCM is really really busy. I know she'll be back soon. I think she made a brief appearance this week at the FX board.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I got on Yahoo today!! Jared is doing okay. Not great, but okay. He's not allowed to drive or ride the ranch by himself, which pisses him off. We keep trying to mentally stimulate him. In fact, I had him look at the Longmire message board last night and he left a couple of messages, with my help and Siobhan's help. I have to head back to Houston tomorrow. Wanted him and Siobhan to go with me. Was hoping he would get help at TIRR, but he refuses to leave the ranch. Take care. Any correspondence from here will be from Teri or Siobhan. He's embarassed to talk for himself. JoI told him very politely, to get his butt over to the FX forum. Prayer works, ladies.

This is such great news! Thanks wkw! Obviously, westtexas is being his usual ornery self. What could be better news?! I hope he will post soon He needs to know how much we care and how hard we are pulling for him. Do you know if he got our cards?
