With all the good buzz building for season six, maybe the Emmy gods will grace our addiction with a few nominations. If so, which episode should each cast member submit as their Emmy reel? Don't be shy about including anyone you felt had a moment whether they are regulars or seasonal guest actors.
Does anyone know when the nominations will be announced? Isn't it usually around mid-July?
Just to get started:
Mary Steenbergen: "The Trash and the Snake" Her shopping expedition with Ava revealed a character who is silky, seductive, sharply observant, able to charm and unnerve her target in the blink of an eye, way too comfortable with the idea of murder and grand larceny and more than a little bitter about the loss of wealth, status and respect that followed the incarceration and murder of her husband.
..........or "Fugitive Number One" just for demonstrating what a kick-ass team player she can be--- in stiletto heels and a tight skirt no less!

I believe July 16th is announcement date.
The Hunt....for Walton. The scene when Ava tells him she is the snitch and the aftermath. Also the name escapes me but the scene when he's chained in the about to explode mineshaft. He got to really fill the screen with such emotion.
Joelle has so many! The post drunk scene as she is first comically facing an amused Raylan followed by the irate Vasquez and Rachel. She got to do a wide variety in one big run.
Timothy. Much as I loved baby Willa I don't see that winning with Emmy judges...just us with pure mush for hearts. The scene in the Bennett pot shed as he confronts Boyd and doesn't pull the trigger. Or when he is arrested and is treated the exact way he treated perps! Or...any of the Art and Raylan father/son scenes. Or him destroying all traces of arlo! Okay so we all know I adore Raylan...ha ha

For Sam Eliot, I liked the scene in Loretta's home with he and TO and Gutterson and Walker...when he has Loretta stick her pinky in the glass...
I loved the tipsy Ava scene too, especially the last moment, hitching up her strapless dress and saying I have to throw up now...the whole thing with Raylan, Vaquez and Rachel.
For both Tim and Walt, has to be one of two...the non-showdown in the barn where Raylan was practically vibrating with his decision not to shoot boyd or the final scene at the jail, such wonderful dialog...loved them both...
Loved the scenes also with Art and Kathryn in her hotel room, with Art and Raylan in the bar looking for the crooked cop, with Art and Raylan talking in Art's kitchen and dining room about how Raylan had to be patient. Art had a pretty good season, didn't he?
For Ava trying not to lose it when she was on the phone with Raylan- I gotta get out of here- and Boyd came into the room... from frightened to death to trying to appear calm and then almost losing it when Boyd left the room...her face was amazing...I was so impressed with her in that episode.
And can't forget the scene of Raylan meeting Choo-Choo and their conversation , I'm not following ya...and then having Tim Gutterson encounter Choo-Choo...That actor made a big impression in just a few scenes...
so many, are there enough awards for everyone?
what do you think??

I tjink there should be an award for the entire cast, like the one they got for Deadwood. They ALL work so well together, there isn't one "fake" amongst them.

They have one in the SAGS called ensemble and we could be nominated in 2016 for the show. We have been ignored prior but if Emmy notices we could get more notice. And I agree this season has so much to use. How bout when Raylan is shown little Zach..and tells Ava he won't be turning her in. Matter of clarity.... For Emmy don't they submit a full episode not a scene? Reckoning was used in season two for Timothy!
So the Promise for Drama series The episode where Raylan destroys all traces of his past, digs up his stone and oh yes..meets up with the ghost of arlo for Timothy. The hunt for Walton. He was twisted and vulnerable at the same time! Same episode for different reasons for Joelle. Episode one for Sam Elliott...we saw charm and evil in Avery. The Promise for nick Searcy..I just thought the humor in every scene with Raylan was classic justified.

I was only thinking about "scenes", so I'm going to go back and thing about whole episodes... If you look at TO's award list on his IMBD page, there are all kinds of them out there...I hope it will be the emmy's this year... What about the Golden Globes? he was nominated one year for that, remember him talking about that on Conan, about his daughter and about his speech? He needs to have that opportunity to make a thank you speech in front of everybody!

If he gets a nomination for lead actor and the show for drama....he could be up there for two...he is a real executive producer!!!! Kind of fun to imagine for him for the show and for so many cast members!!!!

Definitely "The Hunt" for Walton's submission. Just received my Entertainment Weekly and Jeff Jensen chose Justified as the best finale (season or series) among this year's dramas. I am sure appreciating all the appreciation....now. But where has EW been all season long? Dang folks, wrap that blanket of love around a show while it is still airing! Anyhoo. If he gets a nomination for lead actor and the show for drama....he could be up there for two...he is a real executive producer!!!! Kind of fun to imagine for him for the show and for so many cast members!!!!

I agree with you on all of this, ripetebook. Definitely the scenes I'd submit. And yes, Joelle had too many Emmy worthy scenes to recall. I'm not sure about Timothy. I have to think on that one.

His role demands subtlety. Unlike Walton who gets to chew up the scenery! Timothy must hold it in and show it facially and with such quiet intensity. And be honest he nails it every time! The scene in Arlo's shack was perfect. His scenes with Natalie...Winona were beautiful. As she walks away you have no doubt Raylan will always love her. All in his face...in that single look you know. That is acting...so pick any scene and you have an Emmy worthy actor!

Yes, Tim is so good playing subtle emotions, so it's hard to pick one moment that outshines the next. The character of Raylan is supposed to be a laid back kind of cool. That's why it's so hard for me to choose a specific scene that would stand out for an Emmy vote. But any scene where he is pissed, like the scene with Ava where he is grilling her for running, would get my vote. But Emmy voters tend to like a lot of dramatic emotion, and Raylan is just not a dramatically emotional kind of guy.

The intensity of his face off with Boyd...any of them the whole season could work! When he comes to Ava's house and gets walker...that exchange with Boyd is humor mixed with menace! Or his destruction of all that is Arlo...no words needed...it is in his actions til he is moving his parents....the care for mom and the veiled hate for dad! And yes him berating Ava after he brings her back from her run....loved it. But all the Art/Raylan stuff was just rich with humor yet father/son stuff. Honestly Timothy was brilliant all season...the stuff with Winona in both episodes showed such range. Just saying....

I went looking for this issue today, found the one with Kurt Russell, Hateful Eight on the cover, but didn't find the article you mentioned...was I looking at the wrong issue?

I want desperately to have the time to re-watch the whole of season six. There is so much there. I couldn't pick a scene without doing that. I just thought the whole season was pretty darn brilliant. If the PTB can't recognize this, well, I just give up. There is an embarrassment of riches here, folks.

Yes. The new one has Melissa McCarthy on the cover. That's the one you want.

Found the issue, that WAS a nice photo...agreed! If only the attention had come sooner...but better late I guess. Watched that last Clipper game, in Houston...they were making a stab at it late in the 4th, but just couldn't quite get there...too bad.
