The fall TV season is underway and so far we've watched four new shows. It's a tie for our favorite, between Madame Secretary and How to Get Away With Murder. Madame Secretary has a slight 'West Wing' vibe that is intriguing. Tea Leoni is good and I always like to see Tim Daley, even though he doesn't seem to have much to do at this point.
'Murder' does an excellent job establishing a mystery AND sketching out the main characters. Viola Davis is wonderful as a law professor/defense attorney.
Mike liked Scorpion better than I did. I thought the plot was highly improbable, but I did like the characters, especially the lead, and the concept is interesting.
The last show we watched, Blackish, was meh. It had some funny moments, but didn't really keep the pace with it's Modern Family lead in. We'll give it a few more episodes since there's nothing else in that time slot.
Looking forward to Gracepointtomorrow night. Constantinelooks interesting, too.

Forever (surprisingly good). Madame Secretary. Returning shows: Parenthood (final season). Nashville (my guilty pleasure). The Good Wife. C'mon Justified! C'mon Kyle Chandler's new Netflix series! C'mon in Longmire finding a new network.

You two without premium channels - I can hardly keep up with the stuff there, never mind the network offerings.
Outlander-just finished it's mid season. It will restart right after Justified ends on Stars so at least I'll have a hunky Scot in which to drown my sorrows. ( Starz)
And I'm already commit to:
Masters of Sex - second season- brought to us by the producers of Justified, Beverly/Timbermann. Adam Arkin just did a cameo. (Showtime)
Black Sails - Season 2 coming soon. Hot Pirates and naked bisexual women. Something for everybody. (Starz)
And of course GOT, when ever it returns. (HBO)
Penny Dreadful - Sort of dreadful but it's got Josh Hot-net (Sho)
It seems I'm firmly rooted in history with my watching, except for - Shameless (Sho)

MCM, we used to have HBO, but for the most part it was a waste of money for us. I watched True Blood and we caught the first season of Newsroom, but other than those and a few comedy specials we NEVER watched. I'd rather spend the fifty bucks a month on something else.
We don't mind waiting for the DVDs, that's how we've watched Deadwood and Homeland.
The only reason we even have the top cable package is because my husband would expire without the Golf Channel. LOL.

I agree that Madam Secretary and How To Get Away With Murder are quite good. If I keep up with them it will be with On Demand. There are only so many hours in a day.
Tonight I watched the premiere of Gracepoint, which is a remake of the BBC show Broadchurch. Broadchurch was supposed to be a lot better. The BBC usually is. There are a few degrees of separation from TO here. Anna Gunn plays one of the detectives and Kevin Rankin plays a self-appointed "Reverend." I compare this show to The Killing which was MUCH darker. It got mixed reviews from the critics and had a hard time getting renewed. It is now being shown as an abbreviated fourth season "outside of the (cable) box." I will probably buy it because I loved the series. The performances are incredible, perhaps the best that I have seen in a while. It is unbelievably dark, dealing with the death of a teenage girl in seasons one and two, and the death of children who are living on the street in season three. Season four deals with the death of a wealthy young person. Not the happiest of scenarios, but the scripts and the performances totally entrhralled me. Seasons one and two featured our corrupt sheriff on Justified as the father of the dead girl.(Brent Sexton / Sheriff Mosley.) It is one of the best things I have seen on TV. I will watch a bit more of Gracepoint, but I don't think it can compare.
I am still in love with Parenthood, The Good Wife and Castle. Love The Big Bang Theory as well. Have been entralled with Outlander and can't stop watching Manhattan even though I usually hate things that are supposedly non-fiction, but not necessarily 100% factual. I think I would prefer a documentary about the Manhattan Project. Then I would be more sure of the facts. But the performances are pretty good.
P.S. I watch way too much HGTV and it has driven me into debt fixing up my home!

It was very dark, but the main characters- the two detectives were so interesting. I really didn't care what case they were solving, as long as I could watch those two solving it. Many of the performances were amazing. Peter Saarsgard in season 3 (I think it was season three) was riveting. I haven't watched any of the new shows. I've been catching up on Longmire (which I understand has been cancelled ), watched the season premiere of Castle (didn't really like it), and eventually will catch up with Big Bang Theory.

kmmo, I absolutely agree with you about Peter Saarsgard's performance on season 3 of The Killing. It was outstanding.

We haven't seen Broadchurch, but we did watch the first episode of Gracepoint and we'll watch again. I thought it was very well done. Anna Gunn is good.

It seems I always throw myself into shows that have a really BIG fan base in which to immerse myself, and often where the source material is from a book or books.
Game of Thrones, for example, where I can read ahead or wiki the spoilers.
I've recently fallen deeply in love with Outlander, and the fan base is as deep a lush as the Scottish countryside.
I think we created the Justified fan base over on the original FX forum, and for that we old timers can be proud.

Being more of a homebody since my fall...I am finding the new shows good. Thursday is my ABC all the way...Shonda Rhimes is just plain good time fun. I am a huge fan of Maggie Pierce and her connections to Meredith and mostly Richard....(Greys for those I am confusing). Scandal got too dark last year but this year...Mellie is just fun to watch....the jammies and chips at her son's grave...then when she steps up and later we get the pearls splatter and her sobbing...that just tears your heart out. Have always loved Viola and this role she just blows me away. The show is twisty and fun and focused and....like I said ABC has me all three hours. Network TV at its best. Now if only these networks would find a great project for one fine Timothy Olyphant...life would be perfect.

I think 107 - the wedding Was just about the most perfect single hour of television I have ever seen. I am glad Justified is during the oUtlander hiatus. I wouldnt want to have to choose! Both show share awesome acting, storytelling, sets, humor, hunks. I must say that although we are very vocal, fans we are NOT the Justified target audience and sometimes it shows. On the other hand Outlander is very, um, 'nice' to its female fans. If you are a fan of the show I hope you are following Heugan, Balfe, et al. On twitter. They are hysterical. sam accidently sends Cait porn for her birthday! ROTFLMAO. Or when author Gabaldon tweets that fan are sending her pics of Sam's bum with sayings photoshopped on and Sam dares her to share ....and she DOES! Practically broke twitter with that one. I wish the peeps at Justified realized how much fan interaction can enhance the experience.

lovejustified, I totally agree about Outlander 107. It was so beautifully done. I watch it on On Demand because I usually have other things going on. If it's still available, I'd like to watch it again.

SQUEE DOLPHIN AND MONDAY. WHERE CAN WE GO GAB ABOUT OUTLANDER??? A lot of the older Gambeldon forum are achiest and the old time book readers aren't too keen on the new TV fans. I've been over at IMDB, but that is about all. I am almost finished with the first book, so I'm quite proud of myself. I don't pick up something that daunting very often. I did an on line quiz and it said that at my reading speed it would take me 691 days to real all of the series. LOL. I hear Dragonfly in Amber is 1,000 pages long. I also bought the Outlander companion guide ( 400 pages) which is interesting to keep track of things. I'd be happy to put them in a box and send them to either of you once I'm on to Dragonfly...
Oh, have you seen the blog called "Things my husband says during Outlander" Talk about Hysterical. The Tumblr editorial gifs on each episode are hysterical. If I think of it I'll re edit this with some links.

MCM re Outlander: I'd start with Heughligans.com cause to behonest, and to paraphrase, it's about the man in the kilt. Since the main social venues are facebook groups and twitter feeds and these host the masses I thought we might have a try at discussing among ourselves. To that end (and not wanting to hijack any more of this site) I created a quick proboards site for any Justified fans who want to drool over Outlander. Its free, I think I made it so you can post without registering, and if it gets abused or unused I'll take it down. If anyone wants to comment on Outlander find the sister board at justoutlander.proboards.com. See what I did there? I put Just in the name, as a nod to our origins, ha!

Thanks, lj. Don't know if I'll get involved or not. I just spent two hours on the darned internet this morning taking care of dumb stuff. I have one hour now to eat and run errands and get to my volunteer work. I just can't seem to get everything done anymore. That will have to change when Justified starts again.

Did note on IMDB the first episode has no name yet but cast is listed and Sam "markham" Elliott is in it...so the filming has begun....
