I'm about halfway through The Power of Six (sequel to I Am Number Four) and all every does is talk and think and daydream about Henri.
Soooooo if the first one made enough bucks to have a sequel filmed, there might be flashback possibilities!
Not likely but just sayin......
and hopin'.

Well if that's the case, then one of us has got to fall on the sword and watch it looking for him- and let everyone know when his last second of screen time is so we can turn it off.
I just could not finish watching number four! I'm sorry after dear Henri turned in to pixy dust, I just had to turn it off.

Yep, it was sad for like a second but then it was a kind of mercy killing, if you know what I mean. I was SO happy not to need to watch another minute of it.

Thanks to you girls, I have not had any inclination to watch this drivel. What a shame that Timothy did not exercise better judgment here. I have to wonder about some of his other projects, as well, but it's hard to break into the business, and I guess you take any job that you can. Now that Timothy has done two seasons of Justified and some better quality movies, I don 't think that there should be any more of this nonsense. Does anyone know who his agent is and if this person is any good? He should be offered top drawer material from here on out and he should be getting good advice.

I wonder if one of his kids had read the book, or if he wanted to make something they could watch?
The book isn't bad, really...it kept my attention, I finished the whole thing, and I think it had a lot of potential to be a good movie. Sometimes an actor has no way of knowing how a project is going to turn out. It's not his fault. LOL.

Oh, God no. I can't imagine how an actor can really even think about how a movie is going to turn out. Too much is out of their control. All they can do is contribute their best performance and hope for the best. Video stores are full of bad movies made from great books. Sometimes they just don't convert well. I thought he was great in the movie and I liked him in the fatherly role. Whatever, it'll probably make a zillion dollars in the end anyway.

LOL My husband and I are both science fiction fans, avid readers and amateur (very) actors and we enjoyed it for what it was...a tweenie book made into an adventure flick. I don't say it was great or even good, but we actually enjoyed watching it as did several of our friends who also enjoy futuristic films. Nothing amazing or new, just fun.
So, mondayschild, I would say to bite the bullet and watch Timmy in this one. He's cute and lovable and you don't wanna miss out on that stuff!
As I said, no way would I actually recommend it but we just didn't think it was as bad as some of the reviews (several of which pointed out TO as being the best thing in the movie). I know, I know.....faint praise. LOL

Bookperson and Clover you sum it up well. Now that" Number four" is all all over Showtime network, I can't help but turn it on when I'm fumbling around in the the master suite. I was getting ready today and it was on Again ( caught some of it late last night too). Anyway, I turned it on right at some heavy Timothy time. Where he's walking around the warehouse, and when he has the Pinocchio themed tirade at Number Four. He came on the screen and I said "Well Hellloooooo Daddy....ummm, ummm, ummm". So there are a couple of places he just looks so good that you probably shouldn't miss that. Plus there is a cute beagle puppy.
Now I've got to finish this story with something real life funny. So, I'm messing with my hair and 'Hello Daddy-ing" at the refection of the TV in the mirror. It's a big room with a dressing room vanity, my back is to the TV and the door. Just then the drummer walks in in his jeans, looking for a shirt, and he clearly thinks I'm talking to him! Ughhh! I'm sofa-king busted right? LOL Nope. Flick the remote in the mirror, (previous channel), reflects off the mirror, changes the channel to movie starring "who-the-fuck cares" actor in the middle of some dramatic tirade and he's none the wiser. LOL. Oh thank GAWD previous channel wasn't some movie starring Hugh Jackman, Viggo, or Josh Hartnett or my sweetest day might still might have had a Def-con-4 moment. Laughing Hysterically.
"What 'cha watchin'?" "I don't know....some movie...." LOL.
Then my cute little foster dog came galloping in with his toy and all was right with the universe. Whew.

I have to go get another cup of coffee cuz I spit the mouthful I had back into the mug, luckily, instead of all over my desk! That was so funny, mcm. You're like a NINJA with that remote and thank god, you saved the day!
PS.-I never meant to imply that I wouldn't watch TO in this every time I see it playing on my TV. There is no movie he could make that would be bad enough for that to happen. So mondayschild, please give it a look, if only to fast-forward to his parts.

MCM, did you REALLY change the channel through the mirror? All I can say is........are you Number Five??? I've had several "Hello Daddy" moments and had to think my way out mighty fast so I can relate. LOL clovergirl, if you're only watching for his parts, you'll get no joy from this flick but there's a lot of his cute face!! ...or ain't that whatcha meant? sooorrry

Ouch! sorry to mix up clovergirl and mondayschild! Mea culpa, mea culpa, mia farrow!
I can excuse myself by saying that I've been trying to get hubby up from his chair so we can go grocery shopping in time to get back for the Lions sixth win of the year.

Number five? Naaa, I'm like number 45 unfortunately...I just know about something called "the index of refraction on light" from physics.
Goooooo LIONs, bookperson! You know they are playing the SF 49ers, right? That's TO's favorite team, him being from nearby Modesto and all. Hate to say it but I hope he'll be yelling WTF at his TV in So.Cal instead of me yelling at my TV in about an hour. LOL.

Seems like both of you might be doing an equal amount of cursing/cheering at this point.
Sorry about the Tigers. I was rooting for you. Mostly because GW used to own the Rangers, but also because an AL Central team in the series makes us ALL look better.
Browns are playing a CA team, too...Oakland @ 4. Yikes.

Well, by now we know "there is no joy in Mudville......" mcm and I (and presumably our hubs) are in deep mourning for the Tigers, the Lions and University of Michigan. (at least I am LOL) Oh well, them Lions'll roar again. 5-1 is a record they wouldn't have dreamed of a couple years ago. and....mcm....young lady, why didn't you tell us you were a BABE of the first order? I'm attaching a picture of TO after the football game. sigh Attachments:

As a Browns fan I'm not really sure you know what real despair is. LOL. We, however, are well versed in it.
I was sorry to see the Tigers lose....especially to Texas. Go Cards is all I can say! I want a 'St. Louis Squirrel' t-shirt!!

Bookperson "were" is the operative word in that sentence. If any of you drive a model year 2000 car, tell me what it looks like now?
In the words of Indiana Jones..."It aint the years, honey, it's the miles"

mcm, I drive a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. I love this car, which is why I have been driving it for so long. I've had a few little repairs over the eleven years that I've had her, but I'd say she's been a great car. Her name is Cynthia and she is silver. There are a few tiny dings in her, but on the whole she looks great. When Cynthia goes to the shop for her yearly "exam," the mechanics treat her with a great deal of respect, because they know if they don't, I'll go elsewhere.
In the next few years, I may have to look for something new and I have no idea in which direction I should go. If I could get another Olds, I would. My previous car was an Olds wagon, and you could bury an army in that car. I hauled more stuff in that car than I care to remember. I had it for thirteen years. (You're the expert; what do you think?) I want to do what is ecologically helpful, but to be honest, even though Cynthia is a six, I don't use a lot of gas. I consolidate my trips and sometimes drive only three or four days a week. I squeeze a heck of a lot of miles out of a tank of gas!
I'm not sure that Indiana is right in this case. For my car, it's not the miles, it's the years; the repairs that I need to make are largely age related. But as for me, I'm sure that I've changed in the last eleven years. I've traveled some hard miles in that time span.

Bumping this thread because I just finished watching I Am Number Four.
A teen flick with very little character development and no serious drama. I don't know the book and don't think that one has to be true to it. The storyline of the movie has actually an enormous emotional potential that they simply chose to ignore. It could have been a serious coming of age story about losing your innocence and having to find your way in the world without parental guidance. But it was all very superficially dealt with. Instead all this puppy love boring as hell shit. Because this is intended for 13 year olds who supposedly have the attention span of a nat. There are tensions between Henri and Number Four which they tried to explore briefly in one of the outtakes. I also thought that even though Henri is the protector and that's all he is really concerned with, he and Number Four would have had a more emotional relationship because they're stranded on another planet and constantly threatened. That usually creates a very strong and close bond between people. As for the special "defects"-- most of them occur in the dark, obviously a cheap trick. They get an actor like Tim who is kind of athletic and don't give him a couple of serious ass-kicking/action laden scenes. There is a hint of action, but really nothing impressive. It would have been cool if Henri had seemed kind of invincible at first (because all children think that of their parents) and when he dies it comes to Number 4 almost like a shock. You hire actors who are convincing as complex characters and then you give them nothing to do. What a waste of talent.
One more thing: this was a kind of low-budget movie, I felt.
PS: I forget: I love the blooper reel! Better than the movie!

I don't think it was all bad....I do however believe they should have left the Karen Allen n Tim scene in cause it explained some of why her kid was how he was....And talk about mad Ninja skills, Tim grabbed that bottle so fast from her it seemed effortless...I had to replay it to relize what he disarmed her of..LOL...DISARMING people is his gift...LOL...
MCM n Mondayschild, I drive a 1998 Olsmobile Delta 88...I got it second hand 3 years ago (Older cars are the better cars to my thinking, especially muscle and performance cars--Not the crap they build nowadays..No offense MCM...I'm just one of those that used to love tinkering in an engine, now I need a degree in rocket science just to find the power steering box on my nieces car to top off the fluid..LOL) Anyhoo, last year the engine froze...Deader then a fugitive who pulled on Raylan...LOL...I had thought of buying another car, but the body is still very good and so is the interior...So instead, I bought a used engine and my mechanic dropped it in...I was at the time @ 143,000....God only knows what I'm up to now....The odometer still keeps clicking at the old numbers, and that says 196,000 now...Thereabouts....My only problem with her, is the mechanic screwed up the ground wire and it doesn't go the same place the old one was...So he had to rewire something....So that's fixed finally and not giving me any trouble...But he somehow managed to mess up my AC systems, so I have no AC in the summer...Which sucks so bad in our recent heat waves....It used to kick ass, literally when the old engine was in there...LOL.....And the driver's seat was recently sprung by some fatass valet driver that I told to please not move the electric seat at all...Get a smaller guy to park it....NAH, he forced himself in when I left and snapped the seatback springs...So the seat is now being held up by my cooler (I know so ghetto..LOL) till I can find someone to fix it...I don't go far in it cause I can't sit back now...If I did, I'd either look like a little kid driving, or some punk that thinks looking like you're laying down while driving is cool...I can't stand seeing that, that's so irresponsible....It's worse then those who refuse to put their pants on correctly and think that people like seeing your boxers or briefs showing...It's gross to me...But maybe I'm old....
MCM if you have suggestions on how or where I can get a seat replacement for my beloved Betsy, I'd love to know....I'm in NYC...
