Here's that new folder to discuss the new fall season on TV. I have similar taste in comedies. I'll check out the Michael J. Fox show, too. I'm into dark, self-depricating humor. In a recent Kyle Chandler inteview, he was wanting TV to bring back the old 'ABC Movie of the Week' format. I remember Jan Michael Vincent in a TV movie called 'Tribes.' Never forgot it. And another film, Stephen Spieldberg's 'Duel,' a film about road rage. There were some television pilots aired during this show, too. I'd be totally up for something like this. Or the network TV mini series like 'Roots,' or 'Rich Man, Poor Man.' I'm either being very nostalgic and/or am extremely bored. I want something new, fresh. And not so dark. I can get that on the evening news.

I'll probably check out Michael J. Fox's new show. I was just saying the other day- I feel like I grew up with Michael J. Fox. He's just about my age and I watched his TV shows and movies as I grew up . I've always loved him. Dennis Weaver is from my hometown- we have a road named after him. LOL- my only claim to fame. I don't usually watch much network TV. The only shows I watch regularly are Castle and Big Bang Theory. FX, AMC, Showtime, etc. have so much more to offer.

Did you ever hear the rumor that Dennis Weaver was Gay? Supposedly he was caught up in the whole Mick Jagger/ David Bowie thing.
Mick walked in and caught them in a tyrst and exclaimed Hey!You! Get off of McCloud!
ak ak ak ak ak ak ak Just kidding.
My Mom and I loved Mccloud almost as much as Jim Rockford. McCloud rinding the horse in traffic was priceless. I guess he might have been my first coyboy hat crush too, LJ.
Seems like TO really is a throwback to that kind of man, isn't he?
Ad as far ad Duel goes, It was on Encore withing the last 6 months and I watched the whole thing. I had forgotten the ending until I saw it aging; and the pragmatic engineer in me thinks ( again ) Now WTF is he going to do stuck out there in the desert with no car??

Great topic, Lovejustified! I'm right with you there, on Health Barkley. Never cared for Lee Majors in anything else. And with you on Robert Redford as the Sundance Kid. I also crushed on Robert Conrad (and his tight pants and chaps) in the Wild Wild West. Best cowboy ass of the West! Exhibit A:

Hubby and I watched Sleepy Hollow last night. First impression was good. The premise, which could have gone either way, was more intriguing than silly. It's a delicate balance, but we will be watching again. The lead actress reminds me a bit of Erica Tazel, and the lead actor is decidedly NOT the Ichabod Crane I remember from the Washington Irving story. That is forgiven, since he was hardly the hero type. Spoilers below: For once the flashbacks didn't bother me. The costumes seemed right, not cheap or hastily done, and the actor playing General George Washington had a resemblance to the man on the dollar bill. Ichabod's reactions to new things...the lie detector, the automatic windows in the car...was child-like and funny, and not over done (everything would have to be overwhelming). Some of the acting was off, but the two leads were very good. Special effects did a good job with the Headless Horseman, too, and the immediate plot of keeping him and his head separate works. The thing that worries me is the whole witchcraft/four horseman of the apocalypse over-arching theme. But, I'm intrigued, and so, oddly, is hubby. He won't watch zombies or vampires but evidently witches and haunting headless figures heralding in the end of the world are okay. Go figure.

Oooh, I forgot about wild wild west, Dolphin. I second that thought about the chap - ass on Robert Conrad. LOL. Note that's Chap-ass, not chapped ass! I wonder if chapps chap you ass? Hee. He's only like about 5'5'', but a very nice compact little package.
I'm in agreement with all of LJ's pics. Redford definitely. The Electric Cowboy was another good cowboy hat role.
Wkw, are they going to replay Sleepy Hollow?

Plus, he was not as compact as his chief nemesis, Dr. Miguelito Loveless.

I think with so many cable stations having their own movies ( Lifetime, USA, TNT, etc) they won't be having the movies on the network TV...since they have lost the battle for good drama show already.
As to cowboys with stetsons....Ty Hardin/Bronco (see I am so old and began my love of stetson wearing hunks at age 6) James Stacy/Johnny Lancer Lee Majors/Heath Barkley
Then OMG Raylan Givens/timothy Olyphant reawakened my thrill for the "cowboy" minus the horse. That is such a fine specimen of male perfection.

Everything seemed to spiral down for him, again, later in life. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Stacy

It's all about where you place the cursor to start your new post, after you hit the Quote button. I place my cursor on the right side of the last bracket and then, to be safe, I hit the Enter (or Return on a typewriter for those of us who used to type) and start on the next line down. Again, after that last closing bracket.

Sadly Robert Conrad did a likewise spiral - he's paralyzed I believe. And James Stacy after the motorcycle accident that cost him a leg and arm did spiral so down.....our "heros" from childhood had issues and demons and sadly self-destructed.

Your post caused me to read up on him. Wow. His auto victim survived but died young because of his DUI. I never knew that. Isn't it funny how the press (paparazzi) pretty much left him alone? Maybe there was news in So. Cal, but never heard anything about it nationally?

We have started our autumn season here. When you see X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing on the TV schedules you know Christmas is coming. A new season of Whitechapel has started, Downton Abbey starts this weekend and Sherlock will be on soon. There is a whole slew of new comedies over here too and a few a couple of crime related programmes that look good.
I used to love Cowboy programmes when I was growing up (needless to say ALL from America)Clint Walker in Cheyenne, Clint Eastwood in Rawhide, James Stacy in Lancer, Henry Darrow in The High Chapparral, Pete Duel in Alias Smith and Jones....not forgetting The Virginian, The Big Valley and Bonanza. There was also one called Tenderfoot or Sugarfoot or something like that. Ahhhhhh memories.
