I love that the doctor needed him to take his shirt off to fix his ELBOW. hah. also have to admit that him being dehydrated from semen depletion was kind of funny.

Sure did, Katoblue. "But Olyphant was a hoot as quite possibly the world's oldest skateboarder. Olyphant's "Sk8er Man" certainly didn't have Raylan's sexy cool, but as Previously.TV points out, even the show's efforts to remove his hotness couldn't do it."

Okay, I watched this. I'm still not a fan of the show, but Tim was cute. Thanks for the articles, girls. I got a kick out of reading the reader comments. We're not the only fan girls out there.

another good review:
Timothy Olyphant, skater dude: This season of "The Mindy Project" has been wobbly, with moments of hilarity, but an ill-advised focus on new cast member Adam Pally, who's been overdoing the "bro" schtick. After two pretty dismal episodes that seemed to bear the fingerprints of execs demanding the show have more male viewer appeal, last night's episode was a return to form. Mindy Kaling had good moments, especially with costar Chris Messina (their chemistry remains the principal reason to tune in).
Even better was an utterly random guest star bit, casting Olyphant -- best known as the taciturn lawman of "Justified" -- as an overgrown, floppy-haired skater dude. The plot was flimsiness itself -- Mindy agreed to go on a date with the skater dude to show she wasn't "too picky." But Olyphant was a hoot as quite possibly the world's oldest skateboarder. Olyphant's "Sk8er Man" certainly didn't have Raylan's sexy cool, but as Previously.TV points out, even the show's efforts to remove his hotness couldn't do it.

The various reviews I have seen are 100% the show is okay but that Timothy Olyphant was great. Works for me every time. That man makes a woman's heart race when he does a kissing scene.

I think it must be a generation gap. I've never been too fond of The Office (although it had its moments) and could never get into Parks and Rec. Just not my type of comedy. My son and daughter, both in their 40s, enjoyed both and found them hilarious. Not sure even my son would have found this hilarious.
But, I refuse to say another bad word about the show or creator Mindy Kaling as she brought us a lovely TO with black sox, weird hair and a smile to die for.

I found that I could watch this episode again, 8 days later, online on Fox. I wanted to see the TO parts again....LOL! When he was not on screen- a waste of time...leading me to wonder:
Why would TO be a part of this? Is it just that he is a friend of Mindy's? Just because they asked him to? Did he write or collaborate on his dialog, which was funnier than anything else on the show? Was he looking to expand his future opportunities on TV? The hair was already long due to TIWILY filming, so why not create a character with that feature? Just wanted a change from "Justified"- show his range? Wanted to cover himself in tattoos? Did he draw the tattoos himself, Mr. Fine Arts degree? Wanted to take his shirt off on TV more? Wanted to make out with Mindy?
The things I think about....
Anyway, it is there to be seen, if anyone cares to...I would rather see TO as this guy than Walton as a woman on SOA, yech. MHO.

mare, I think Timothy is probably very smart. He doesn't want to be "pigeon-holed." He is looking to life beyond "Justified." He is showing that he can be anything that is called for. For me, his best roles have been Seth Bullock and Raylan Givens and his beautiful "Damages" role as Wes Krulick. For me, he would never need any other calling cards. But acting is a fickle vocation. And one has to pay the bills. I don't get "The Mindy Project" or a lot of the other roles that Timothy has taken in his quest as a serious actor. But I trust that he knows what he is doing, even if we question his reasons. I just hope that he will zero in on some really great stuff in the future.
As far as Walton as the transvestite on SOA--- he was great, but was it really necessary? I have to let him be the judge here. He has proven himself to be far and above this type of role.
Just a personal comment: In high school and college I was heavily involved in theater. I was not the leading lady type---not tall enough or exotic enough. Sometimes I got the lead role and sometimes I was relegated to a bit part or sometimes I was given the part as director. I learned to love each part and never regretted anything. It was all part of the process. I'm just saying.

Well, he is part of the "Fox Family" and when your company ask you to do something, you do it. That being said, I'm sure Tim relished in an easy goofy gig.
Remember, "Real Tim" is hole-in-the-jeans chillaxed California boy, probably a lot closer to Mindy's skateboarding Graham than he's like to admit. Thankfully much smarter and more stylish.
I'm with Dolphin, though. He's probably making breakfast burritos in that horrible t-shirt right now. LOL

It just made me wonder about a lot of things ... so you are a theater person, I'll bet you had a great time. I was always too self conscious/shy to participate in anything remotely like that. Good for you!

I agree 100 percent with this statement, mondayschild. I like to see Timothy in different kinds of roles, not just the handsome, heroic leading man roles. And I don't think he's so much worried about the type of show, I just think he's trying his hand at comedy in whatever form it is offered to him. This might be his way of experimenting and stretching his acting chops for future opportunities in comedy. I'd like to think Walton has the same goal, to branch out and try something that's totally different than what he's done before. I think really good actors have to be fearless actors and get out of their comfort zone.

mare, I did have a great time in the theater. I met my husband there, and we did some shows together. I never followed up on acting after college for the aforementioned reasons. There wasn't much out there for me. But the directing experience came in very handy, especially in the area of children's dramatics. I used it in church programs and in teaching. I came to really love it.
And, siss13, I think when you love the craft, you follow all avenues. I think that some of Timothy's choices have been totally goofy, but you are right. He is definitely stretching, and it brings more attention to him as an actor. He can't always be the serious lawman ( Deadwood, Justified, The Crazies.) I personally loved him in A Perfect Getaway. He was strong but had a oddball side, too. It was the best of both Timothys.
