This isn't really a game, but just something that came up when I was wondering if Raylan rode horseback. I mean he's from Kentucky and all, but not from the horsey parts (you should pardon the expression) and I wondered whether there would have been occasion for him to learn or use this skill in the marshall service. So....whattdayou think? What is Raylan's favorite: Dinner Alcoholic Drink Entertainment Sport Reading (does he or doesn't he and, if so, what?) Attachments:

Good idea, book!
Well the shows have given us some clues: We know that fried chicken is Raylan's favorite. "All my life, fried chicken's been my favorite." And of course, ice cream for dessert.
He drinks bourbon. In episode 1 of season 1, Ava offers him a jack and coke, or a version thereof. "I have Coca Cola, RC Cola..." Raylan takes it with just ice that time. Sometimes he drinks it straight. He also seems to like beer. Arnold Pinter's favorite--egg cream, was it? Not so much. He claimed to enjoy Mag's "apple pie."
Entertainment: Aside from women, he seems to enjoy music. He was pretty put out when Winona dragged him away from the Dave Alvin concert, just because she didn't want to be seen with him before her divorce.
Sport: We know he played baseball in school an that he still goes to the batting cage, although that is probably more to let off steam than anything else. Then there was the night he knocked one out of the park behind Johnny Crowder's bar. He admits to not being a great player anymore, but probably watches games on tv or local games from time to time. (On second thought, is there even a tv in that pathetic motel room? I can''t remember.)
Reading: Raylan would be an Elmore Leonard fan, for sure. He sometimes reads the newspaper, as we saw when he realizes that Douglas?, the escaped prisoner, has probably headed for Riverbrook to reclaim his stash.
These are my educated guesses. I'm sure that the more creative among us will come up with more.

I'm ancient so my memory is not as good as that of all you young'uns. I remember now the fried chicken, and yes, the ice cream! LOL I'll add my two cents worth and say he probably also enjoys a good steak and baked potato dinner.
Egg creams? I've never heard of egg creams very far from the east coast, so you're probably right about that. LOL Those were popular in Ed McBain's 87th Precinct seriesl. Try them if you haven't read them.
I would have been pissed off at having to leave a David Alvin show as well. I esp. liked his stuff with The Blasters.
Aside from the baseball, I'll bet he occasionally indulges in a game of touch football if there's one around.
Yes, he would like Elmore L. and I also think he'd enjoy the above-mentioned 87th Precinct books. Or maybe just a good old western by another Detroit author, Loren Estleman, who also writes good mysteries about Detroit. EL and LE? Something in the initials???

Re the egg creams: Arnold says they're like drinking a little bit of Brooklyn, or something like that. (It's interesting that when he played Steve on Sex and the City, he and Miranda moved to Brooklyn near the end of the series.) Kind of a shout out to a previous role. I've heard of egg creams, but like Raylan,I'm not sure that they are for me.
Years ago, I read some of the 87th precinct books that you mentioned. I did enjoy them and agree that Raylan might like them. I got away from the series and lost track. I like to read those kind of series in order and wouldn't know where to start! (It's just a quirk of mine, I guess.) Also in the same vein as Elmore, I enjoy Carl Hiassen, who writes about crime in Florida. He has a wicked sense of humor and his criminals are sometimes very stupid. Dewey Crowe has competition!

I don't think Raylan's a 'reader'. He just doesn't seem like he would spend his spare time like that. I think he'd be more likely to drink and mope. Sad, but true. He might read Sports Illustrated. What man doesn't? Well, what straight man doesn't? And he obviously takes his work home with him...he has files in his room on several occasions that I can recall.
Agreed on the chicken and ice cream, and it's a rare man who doesn't like a steak, so I'll give you that, too.
I bet he watches whatever sport is on...football, baseball, basketball, but probably doesn't do much beyond the batting cages. I wonder if the Marshal's have a bowling night? That'd be fun to watch!
I didn't know there was such a thing as a motel room without a television. I'm sure there's one there, we just haven't seen it.

I don't think he's a reader...He only likes to look at the pictures..LOL.
Boyd is our "reader". Raylan is an observer.
The T.V is up on a bracket on the wall in the motel room. It's in one of the outtake pics from the Hollywood reporter that were taken the same day at your peep show avatar, wkw.
Correction, I think the TV photo was in the Hollywood backlot section of the LA times.

Raylan IS a good observer and a critical thinker. He has to be because of his line of work. (Except for the time when he thought Ava was a target, when it was really him, and then when he thought he was a target and it was probably Winona. He does slip up once in a while, but he is then quick to catch on.
We have really seen very little of Raylan during his down time, so it's really speculation as to what he enjoys. He works long hours and we often see him coming home late at night and going straight to bed. What a life! Even when he showed up at Mags' party he was working.

Great observations. I've noticed that the man likes a nap and tries to catch one whenever possible and practical, lol.

mcm, were you able to find out anything about the CD? Hope you had a nice Labor Day. The tile man and I appropriately labored; he was grouting tile in my bath and I was trying to find a place for all of my clothes. (It was time to clean out the closets anyway. ) I still have a toilet sitting in my bedroom, but the painters will be here on Thursday, to be followed by the carpet people. The tile work is so outstanding that I don't care anymore how long it takes. Today I told him that I was going to the liquor store and for groceries. He said "Oh! Are we having a party?" And I said "No. You're driving me to drink!" So we had a good laugh and then I went out into the pouring rain. We don't need any mofre and I wish we could send it to westtexas.
Let me know about the CD. Thanks.

Oh yeah, It's totally out of print so you can't order it on amazon anymore. I asked David the singer to burn a couple of copies for me. He'll just photocopy the cover art. I'll have Jon remind him this weekend at his gig again. That's an old CD. My spousal unit isn't even on it. He replaced the drummer that is on it; but he plays those songs at nauseam every gig.

Thank you. It was very kind of you to check it out for me. The song must have staying power if they're still doing it !

I noticed Raylan reads a lot of case files. (Even takes them home with him.)
