Love High Life, one of my favorites. The scene with his son when he's on the ground, when he's explaining himself to Billy at the church, when he's pitching his plan to the others at the counter of the diner, when he's shaking his finger at Bug after the "pink" explosion and when he is sitting near Bug after the fall, knowing it's all over...he brings a lot of humanity to Dick, so we care about him despite his sad situation and inability to see how pathetic it all is. It is one of those times I wish I knew what happened to the characters AFTER the movie ends....where would Dick and Donnie be now? As for TO at the ball game, stopped me in my tracks to see those photos! Great looking, strong, smart, funny, loyal, family man...what more could one ask for?
have a great day everyone.

I loved him in High Life, too. I think it's his best movie role to date. My opinion. Too bad it wasn't seen by more. The lead characters are like the local criminals in Justified. They are given enough humanity to care about them. Bug; however, is a trip. The fact that Dick put up with him made me think there was something in there ... maybe his loyalty to Dick.

Dolphin, This was one of my favorites of his, too. I loved Joe Anderson (as Donnie, he was also the deputy in The Crazies!) he has beautiful eyes. Yes, the characters are given some humanity. I kept wondering why Dick stuck by Bug. I'd like to watch this movie again.
Yeah, Mare27- I wondered out loud if Donnie and Dick went back to the drugs at the end of the movie. I hope not.

I'm having a big "DUH" Dolphin moment. I never put together that Joe Anderson was in BOTH movies until you said it. I guess I was all focused on TO. I need to see The Crazies again. I like The Crazies ... I'm just not into the genre so much. LOL But a 1970's drug movie? I can hang with that. I loved it when they would get out of prison and be lost on popular culture, music, ATMs. Could you imagine if that happened, today? I wondered if they stayed off drugs at the end, too. You want to hope so ... Dick has a son. (TO is so freaking cute, cleaned up.) But the odds in those days were against them. Donnie looked like he was on the staight and narrow. But Dick? He had that gleam in his eye as they started the closing title track.

Ah, come on, would you expect less? I've been good lately around all the new members. LOL. Now, if Tim were only nekked on the Jumbotron..... Oh this IS being good in my opinion! I'm as crass and undignified as a sailor on leave. ESPECIALLY when it comes to a certain celeb.. . Who we shall call Shimothy Shmolyphant.

Did you notice Tim's voice echo over the P.A? I call that the "omniscient echo". Every time I hear something like that I think of Lou Gehrig's goodbye speech The Pride of the Yankees.

I have to say... Occasionally when I am gardening, picking blackberries, weeding,or at my job- I'll wonder for a moment, what is TO doing right now?...I liked his comments about enjoying what you're doing, while you're doing it, and "somewhere in there is the secret to life" (in the interview following throwing out the fist pitch, talking with the game announcer) and I have to say, I have been trying to keep that in mind as a way of looking at many areas of my life. He does seem like a guy who has it all, and knows it and feels fortunate and enjoys his life. I think that is a huge part of what makes him so attractive...I am trying to get to that space in my head, of being in the moment and making the most of it....at least it is a goal. Does that seem odd to you? Nothing to do with our "thread", sorry, just got to babbling. lunch break over.

Mare27, to emulate Tim's outlook is healthy. Don't take yourself too seriously, appreciate what you have, never be jealous, always be polite and charming, and enjoy the ride!
Also; While you are wondering "What is TO doing right now"; keep in mind the many reasons than we adminre him has a lot to do with what he is not doing.

your right, motor city...thank god he's not on the cover of the tabloids, etc. He seems to have avoided all the bull$hit that so many get lost in. A smart guy, a family guy, a good guy, a talented guy, making good decisions, keeping the private life private and remaining humble with all the gifts he has... got to admire him. And he's keeping us all interested at the same time. thanks for your comments. so glad to check in with all of you...

When I'm in a situation where I'm waiting--Dr's office, nail salon, beauty parlor, etc.---I read the mags. You know the ones. I always hope for a snippet about Timothy, but there never is one. He is not the typical fame whore. I don't think he is adverse to publicity, per se, but he is choosey. He is a person who is somewhat private and humble, as mare says. And grateful for his success. This is one of the things that I love about him.

Thanks for the link to the video, MCM. He's just so beautiful. Mondayschild- I was at the dentist office this morning. That and the doctor's office are the only time I get to read those magazines. I would be surprised to find Tim in there. Maybe just a snippet about an upcoming movie or something. He really isn't a fame whore, and I like that about him. He seems very grounded and I admire him for that. That being said- I always want to see more of TO!
