We are getting clobbered every few days here in south central PA. I had a horrible time getting home from church on Sunday. Spent about a half an hour spinning my wheels on a hill until two wonderful folks pushed me up. The snow fell and quickly froze to the road.Once I got up the hill I was okay, but it was really frightening. I have default plans for this coming Sunday as we are to get more. This is on top of the six inches we got on Wednesday. Most of the area schools were off on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday. I did my grocery shopping on Tuesday and it was good that I did. Luckily there is nothing coming for the next two days . It will enable me to do some grocery and Christmas shopping. I am way behind this year. This is reminiscent of 1994 when we had a perpetual ice storm. Didn't get the Christmas decorations down until April. I am not kidding you. We had freezing rain every week for months. I'm glad that kmmo is making the best of the time off. The cinnamon buns look fantastic. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that global warming is a reality or that the world is off its axis. Take your pick.

My house is at the bottom of a big hill. Getting up that hill when it's icy has been a pain in the rear since we moved here. This is the first year that I've had an all wheel drive car. It really makes a big difference. Hope you don't get too much snow and ice.

alphamare, I have always walked my cats. Problem is,the one I have now was an adult when I rescued him. No way will he let me put him on a leash. (He is afraid of his own shadow. He is pictured in the dictionary under "fraidy cat.") People laugh when you tell them that you "walk"your cats, but my previous ones loved it. One of my cats loves it! She and I go on adventures. The other was born in the wild to a feral mother and can hardly stand to be in the same room as a person, let alone handled in anyway. He'd climb me like a homesick Swiss yodeler climbs mountains if I ever presumed. The one I walk is over 20, deaf, partially blind and completely oblivious so walking on a leash is the only way she goes outdoors.

Dolphin, that is so precious that I can hardly stand it. What is cuter than baby's first Christmas? I remember it well with my boys. My four year old great-niece was here for the big day. She is a beautiful little girl, and is full of imagination and energy. I got her the complete Disney Cinderella outfit from ToysRUs. She is a girly girl and has lots of these costumes. She also loves artsy crafty things and the guitar she got from her uncle who is a musician. I can't wait to see her grow up. The world is her oyster. I know that you are experiencing the same thing. Isn't it wonderful? Sadly, the only grandchildren I will ever have are those with fur and two extra legs. (My son and his fiance brought Thomas for Christmas. I love him to death, but he has to go back to Seeing Eye in a few months and my heart will be broken all over again.)

Just love it. I always thought it would be so rewarding but so tough to let them go. Our closest guide dog school does a ceremony where the training family is there at graduation of training with the non sighted person and their new guide dog. I've heard it is so moving. That is a wonderful, good hearted boy you brought up, Monday.

Great pictures, Dolphin. Monday, I have so much respect and admiration for people who can raise service dogs. A friend of mine is doing it right now, and she and her husband are both struggling with giving this sweet dog up. I'm sure that the joy of seeing someone receiving a life-helper takes some of the sting away, but it would still be hard. I don't think I could do it. Here is my little Santa. (Okay, not so little!)

Dolphin- cute pics of grandbaby's first Christmas. Love the "Silent Night" shirt! This is such a precious time for everyone.
I'm not sure if I'll ever have grandchildren. I've been enjoying my niece (she's 7 years old). Went to her school Christmas program last week. It's fun to watch her growing and learning.
Wkw- beautiful doggie. He has grown!

Thank you! I Face Timed in and saw her roll over to a sitting position for the first time. AND she went up on all four for the first time, too. She just needed an audience. It was one of those precious, once in a lifetime moments. One of my favorite school field trips when Li'l Dolphin was in school was to the Guide Dog School in Boring, OR. Just a fantastic program and volunteers. It does do much good for so many. Outstanding program. Can't speak of it highly enough.

To all: Yes, my son and his fiance socialize these Seeing Eye dogs for their first year of life. His fiance has been doing it for a long time. Thomas is her eighth puppy. He is my son's second, and he is such a softie. It is hard for him. Right before Julie, the black Lab, went back last January, he called me and asked if I wanted to say goodbye to her. Of course, I did and they made the trip to my house one evening. She had her "town walk" some months after she went back to Seeing Eye for her intensive training. She passed with flying colors and they were there to see it and shared pictures with me. (Wish I knew how the hell to post them.)
Laura is not expecting Thomas to pass; of course once he gets back to Seeing Eye he may surprise them, but right now he is a bit distractable. He is a really nice dog and they think he may be able to go into another type of service. He was wonderful with my great niece on Christmas Day. He let he take his leash and they went everywhere together. (Julie is not going into service. She is the quintessential Lab. They want to breed her once or twice and then she will go to a good family.)
This is something I could never do. I get so attached. I have had all of my pets for many years. It seems that they get to be about 14 or 15 and then develop some kind of illness. We can then treat it effectively for a few years and then things go downhill and I have to make the hard decision. At my age, I am not sure that I will have another pet after Cubby is gone.
