Thought I'd start this one, since I watched last night to cheer myself up. It's kind of a weird movie...I was never sure what character I was supposed to be focusing on. But I loved TO's role, and he and Jennifer Garner played well off each other.
This is a movie you can have on while you're doing other things, because there are long stretches that you don't need to watch. LOL.

I really like this movie. TO feels so achievable in this one. Very hot kissing, too.

I watched this again last weekend. I think it was my fourth time. I felt all the characters were wonderful and loved watching them play of one another. When you first see Timothy you think that his character is going to be slimy pig, but he turns out to be adorable. Maybe after four more viewings I'll be sick of it, but I doubt it.

Oh, yeah, and the kiss. That kiss gives me reason to live.

LOL! Love that description and so true! It is definitely light and fluffy entertainment but hey, light and fluffy is what you need sometimes. I actually like this movie though. I thought Jen Garner was adorable. First of all we have Mr Yummy at the funeral! I knew right then I was gonna like it. I like how she was so pissed at him at first and then started to come around. Love when she gives him the shirt and they walk by the river. Love the bar scene where she's drunk and singing "Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys" and he gets her home. The fishing shack kiss is one of the top ten best movie kisses ever! The next day on the porch scene they're both adorable. Timothy rollerblading, or trying to. Timothy floating down the river with his cowboy hat on and taking pictures. Hated the part where he overhears her talking about him. Hated when he leaves her. (You can run in that dress! Go stop him!) And finally back together on the beach. Perfect ending. Side note : I thought Juliette Lewis was also really good in the movie. I think all in all, for what it is, it did a great job.

I thought the same thing about the character at first...but he turns out to be a truly nice guy. So much for first impressions.
And the kiss...yeah. Perfect.

I have two Justified episodes on my iPod and I do the same thing. LOL. It's a tiny little screen, but I don't care!

The kiss.
I believe if this movie was more memorable, that kiss would make it into a lot of blogger's best kisses in movies lists or something. No one acknowledges it. And it's gooood.

Yep...it is what fantasies are made of. I also like the kiss in Coastlines...the onw at the Dr's office.

That one is so good it's almost painful to watch, lol. The way he puts his head on her shoulder goes straight to my heart. I die!

Just read an interview that was done right before Catch & Release came out and this answer was so sweet, I had to share.
"Q: Are you a big city guy or were you a fish-out-of-water ever, kind of like your character in the movie, or do you feel more comfortable in a small town?
TO: I never really thought about it, I feel like my wife and I, we've lived in a tiny little beach town to New York and LA. We look back and we realize that we were always pretty happy. I think you create your own community, and I've been really lucky that way."

That kiss in the doctor's office in Coastlines? I felt my throat get tight and my eyes start to fill up. It was so tender and was sad because they knew it could lead to trouble, but they just couldn't help themselves. And when they made love in the kitchen, she tried to deny her feeling and pushed away, but the need to connect was so strong; I felt like they just had to do it, regardless of the problems it would cause.

Oh yes....it is tender & you can feel his loneliness & sadness. She is tired of the everyday, nothing changes, boring life she has.

Some days, I know how she feels. Watched Catch and Release with my friend tonight. She hadn't seen it before, and hasn't really seen much of TO's work besides Justified. She kept saying "Wow, he's adorable." and she couldn't figure out why he seemed so much different than Raylan, besides the longer hair, until I pointed out to her that Raylan doesn't smile that often...Fritz smiles a lot in this movie. When I left she said we might have to watch it again sometime.

Smart girl. She knows a good thing when she sees it. I can't imagine ever being tired of this movie. Timothy's character, Fritz, goes from being a guy who gets it wherever he can, to being a sweet, compassionate love interest for Gray. I think he was enchanted by her and it changed his whole mind set. After doing the waitress, he encounters Gray, who is obviously suffering and it makes him take stock of his life style. She has many reasons to question his affections, although they are sincere. She gives in after that magnificent kiss. Misunderstanding her comments to assuage a friend's feelings, he leaves. When she makes up her mind to move on and to try again with him, it is lovely. Their reunion is so heart warming. It is really a feel good movie and a great chick flick. Timothy could not have been more beautiful.

It's the ultimate chick flick although I'd give it a few more points for being slightly more intelligent than some probably due to the maturity of the actors and their performances.

I can just watch this over and over. Am I superficial? Perhaps. I just love the characters, who are totally different in personality. Watching them try to relate and come together is so much fun. (I guess I don't have to mention the kiss again, do I?) Yeah, I know, I would be repeating myself for about the fiftieth time. Can't help myself. It comes from being a widow for so long. I'm about to hire a "male escort."

Chick flicks aren't usually my thing; I find them to be cloying and artificial... much like a crushed and melted Cadbury Creme Egg: sweet at first, but eventually gag (and guilt) inducing. However. I braved this one for TO, and I'm not sorry I did, if only because of the infamous, panty-igniting Kiss. He was very good in this, though - authentic and endearing - and I think elevated this a touch beyond the average in the genre.

I love when they are in bed together and she asks him what his favorite color is and he says gray. On paper that could have been a sleezy smooth-move-playboy type line but he delivers it so sincerely. Also, I have wondered if he did the dragon drawing on her hand?

I wondered about the doodle on the hand. Tim did say in an interview that he can "doodle with the best of them" when asked about his Art major in college.
The coolest thing about that scene is the shout of to the one we owe the biggest thanks- Tim's mum, the former Ms. Gideon.
I often wondered if Tim asked if he could use his Mother's maiden name or he just forgot what ever was scripted and did it. OR; If he just did it, which seems a lot more like Tim.

LOL I actually watched this with my husband. When it came to the part where Fritz overheard Gray talking about him, he whispered "oh damn", shut his eyes and leaned back in his recliner sadly.
One of the reasons I keep him around.......
