Wouldn't be it be nice if TO were to get a quirky little film like this? The Sessions ... opening soon.

There's been Oscar talk about this since it was screened at Sundance. Hawkes is a busy boy, he's also in Lincoln.

I've heard good things about this film. I have, too. I wish TO a new film that gets all kind of good buzz.

I don't know whether he isn't being offered any film roles or he just likes to take a lot of time out between seasons to be with the wife and kids. By all accounts the Justified shoot has long days and he puts in the hours so he probably doesn't get to see a lot of them.

This may be one of the few times in his life where he's felt like he could take some time off during the haitus to be with family. He should grab and enjoy it when and while he can. And the really good films with really good roles don't come along every day.

I wonder if there is something in his contract that prevents him from film work unless its under a certain umbrella of ownership/production?
I have no knowledge of these matters.

The others seem to manage it though, of course they may have different contracts. I just get the feeling that he might be turning down a lot of stuff (which maybe doesn't interest him) in favour of family time....don't ask me why I think that, it's just a hunch.

On a semi-related, six degrees of Timothy Olyphant kind of note;
Last week, or the week before, I saw Trooper Tom and Dewey Crowe in the same episode of Vegas. Trooper Tom was a similar personality to what we know but Damon Herriman was a slick-haired assassin. I thought he did really well. Did anyone else catch that show?
It's possibly related because Yost said Damon spends a lot of time down under and they have to grab him for Dewey scenes when they can. Vegas films at same studio as Justified so we know he was 'available'.

I really love this kind of film. Has Helen Hunt ever done anything bad? Not in my estimation. I've never really been a gigantic John Hawkes fan, but he is talented and this movie might do it for me. The big "over the top"movies are not usually a draw for me. I love the character driven stuff, and this seems to fit the bill. And I, too, would love to see Timothy do more of these types of movies. I also agree that he is family oriented and picks his work accordingly. Being so involved with Justified may leave him little time as it is with family. Throwing in films may be too much. His kids won't be young forever.But right now, they are paramount. I am reminded of a quote I once read: "No one,on their death bed, says that they wish they had spent less time with their children." I think this applies.

My hubby thought I was having a seizure when I jumped from my chair, yelling "Dewey Crowe"!!!!!
