Makes me sad Jim's not coming to visit but happy Shelbys back. Also happy that there's a movie shooting in my neck of the woods again. HOORAY local economy booster.

Yay! Love Jim Beaver as Shelby. Sounds like his character will have some dealings with "Raylan" since Jim said it was good to work with Tim again!

Yea shelby! He is sherrif because Boyd got Napier's sister a court job and he was diqualified from the election, right? Did we decide if Shelby had liver cancer or was he faking the deputies out? Are we counting Shelby as Team Boyd? I think he's more "Team Shelby". He was happy enough for Boyd's help to get into office, but I think he believes in the law and won't be as willing as Boyd may think to bend it, or ignore it. Okey is probably right, and I'd love to see Jim Beaver stick around for the run of the series. I think he and Tim play off each other well, and Raylan needs another law enforcement officer to lean on in Harlan, what with Trooper Tom gone. I totally missed those two on Vegas. Hmmm. Might have to see if that ep is still on the tivo. I'm usually good at picking actors out. He's been on twice, i missed him the first time too. The mysteriously lethal Mr. Jones

Clearly the time he has spent at Tramble has had a positive influence on his personal grooming.

Rats. I was purposely not watching Vegas. But maybe I need to???
(I see Dennis Quaid as unworthy competition for TO in the Emmy Drama Acting category ... but maybe CBS' reign is a far gone conclusion. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.)

I fell in love with Jim Beaver on Deadwood. So glad that he will be returning to Justified. Even though he got the sheriff's job in less than legal ways, I think he will do the right thing as far as the job is concerned. I don't think Boyd should expect him to be a push-over. And I agree that he may be helpful to Raylan.
Thanks for digging this up, wkw.

Let's face it -- the guys from Supernatural, Padelicki and Ackles, may be cute (at least I think so hehe) but without Jim Beaver the show would have been just meh. (Misha Collins is good and the British dude is cool... Mark Shepard, but Jim was the best.) What I am trying to get at -- the success of that show depended very much on Jim Beaver, I think.

Yep! It's Jackie Nevada. Atleast they made her a grad student! "Justified": In Season 4, we'll meet Jackie Nevada, a sexy, cool grad student who develops a powerful crush on Raylan. She's a bit of a spitfire, and grew up around mostly male influences, so she fits right playing cards with the guys. In the same episode, an adult filmmaker named Kenneth helps Jody, the murderer that Raylan is after, to dodge our boy. We discover that Kenneth and Jody were schoolmates back in the day, but Kenneth quickly grows wary of Jody, particularly given his drug use. So from this it still looks like Raylan's chasing the same Jody Adair from "Hole in the Wall" for Sharon the bailbondswomen. blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/11/10-spoilers-a-parenthood-surprise-vampire-diaries-does-holiday-cheer-and-a-new-glee-guy-is-introduce.html

Says she 'develops a powerful crush on Raylan'...maybe it's not mutual. That would be different. LOL. They always seem to use Elmore's stories with a bit of their own twist. I'm interested to see what it might be this time. Wonder if this will be the 'middle' section of S4? That would leave Winona for the final arc...and Yost did say that we would see the baby this season. Of course, that could always change.

I think you may be on the right track with that wkw. Here's Kristen's spoiler about the same episode:
Marc: I know if I ask for Justified spoilers, you guys will deliver. Right? Was that a threat veiled as a compliment? Well played, sir. In episode seven of the new season, Raylan will get more than he bargained for when a young grad student develops a cute little crush on him. And when we say "cute" and "little," we really mean "intense" and "huge." We hope this doesn't turn into an Alicia-Silverstone-and-Cary-Elwes-in-the-movie-Crush type situation. Wait a minute. This is Justified! Of course it's going to take a turn for the worse.
Sounds like it could be funny. Looks like they bumped this to episode 7 as Yost said last month this would be the 6th.

It's just the way it's phrased...that she has a 'crush' on him. Doesn't sound to me like a big romance. I guess we'll see, but I wonder if she won't turn out to be stalker-like? They could play that for laughs, or for danger. If that's the case, it will be interesting to see which way they go.

Grad student could run the gamut of ages, not necessarily early twenties. Although "a cute crush" sounds like a young person. Damn. I prefer Raylan igniting sparks with all these hot, age- appropriate women like Lindsay or the coal company executive, even if she was duplicitous. I'm fine with Raylan being mutually flirty, but I hope it's mostly a one-way infatuation. SPOILER-ISH Entertainment Weekly ran a small photo of TO and Patton Oswalt. Pulling out the relevant bit: So it sounds like a January debut. Yay! Also, thanks for the updates, ladies. With reference to Jim Beaver's comment, isn't it reassuring that everyone who works on this show, whether a guest or a regular, remarks about how well people are treated on the set?

Stephen Tobolowsky is back too as the Dick FBI Agent!! This can't be good for Raylan.
From his twitter (via Dom Pagone)
They really don't get rid of you unless they kill you on this show. And sometimes not even then. RIP Aunt Helen.

Thanks weegie! I haven't been particularly excited about this upcoming season, but this helps and as we get closer to the premier I may be close to the level I was this time last year. I think Raylan's henley's get shorter every season. .

Thanks for the link, weegieburd. The article in the print magazine was just barely an edited down paragraph plus the snapshot. This had so much more.
Once again we hear what a dream TO is to work with as an actor. *sigh*
Thanks also to okeydokey for Tobolowsky's tweet. That was funny.
Thanks for the screencaps of NOT!DewyCrowe on Vegas, lovejustified. If you hadn't posted these I don't know how long I would have been puzzling over who is that guy? He looks so familiar.
Is it January yet?

At this point, I am letting it all up to the writers. It sounds like a very interesting season, with great new characters. I 'm anxious to see the baby, but sad that he or she will not have a normal family. I wonder about how Raylan and Winona will work this out.
As a mother of two, I can't imagine how I would have raised two boys without their father. My husband died when our youngest was in graduate school. It has been difficult for all of us, but if he had not been in our lives when the boys were little, it would have been impossible for me, I think.
The show is moving forward and new characters are being introduced. But there are a lot of loose ends and serious relationships that have to be taken into consideration. I just hope that the writers address these things.

And I'm getting excited about the things I've read and the speculation here. Most of the fun is seeing how wrong we are when the show starts airing again. As to Raylan and Winona, hopefully they can make the best of it. And it's not as though she's without support, and they both seem extremely happy and excited about Jiffypop. I can see the situation being hard for Raylan with his upbringing and being the non-custodial parent.

I hope the whole situation between Raylan and Winona is addressed in a satisfying way. The last scene of S3 gives me a lot of hope that it will be. Even though they're apart, that scene showed how interconnected they are and will continue to be. I think parenting would be difficult for Raylan under the best of circumstances, and being separated from his child will only complicate things...but if it wasn't complicated, it wouldn't be Justified!

(I see Dennis Quaid as unworthy competition for TO in the Emmy Drama Acting category ... but maybe CBS' reign is a far gone conclusion. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.) Just my sort of humble opinion, but I find Dennis Quaid to be rather appalling in Vegas. Not very interesting a character or performance. I've been a fan of Quaid's at various times in his career, but any charm or interest in this character escapes me.
