Here is TO's brief appearance in "A Life Less Ordinary" (1997). They've never released a proper DVD so we can't see any deleted scenes that show more of him. He does a good job as a hiker dude. Holly Hunter is just marvelous and you can see why he was inspired. This has some good laughs, but Ewan McGregor's cartwheel of joy is the highlight of the film for me. So cute. rutube.ru/video/a1faa431ddb5153040924ef1ec13821a/

Thanks superglue! I can't get over his voice in these early roles. He sounds so different now.
I also loved the cartwheel, I don't know the context of this but it made me laugh. It was quite an impressive cartwheel too. I kind of want to see the rest of this movie now.

I'd recommend it but I'd watch Ewan McGregor read the phone book. It has some good moments of black comedy and a great cast. Ewan McGregor's character works for the rich father of Cameron Diaz's character (spoiled brat) and his life is going to hell. He gets laid off and accidentally ends up kidnapping her, and she makes him ask for more money so she can keep it. Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo are angels who are pulling strings to help people on earth find love. At this point in the story, Ewan thinks bounty hunters are chasing him so he lets Tim's character have his car. I'm guessing he was cut out of an earlier scene in which they find him and tell him to stand there in the road and take the car.
Yes, his voice is soooo high compared with now! Our voices keep getting lower as we get older but we don't notice this gradual change... I was listening to Bob Newhart last week on Conan's podcast and his voice was just so low. I haven't heard him speak in like 20 years.

I'm going to have to check out the rest of the film. It sounds entertaining.
I just can't believe how high it was given he was in his late 20s at that point. I listened to part of the Bob Newhart podcast when I was in the car last weekend but the timber of Bob's voice made it difficult to hear over the road noise and the rain.

Yeah, it's weird how it really is so high but it's not like he sounded like a girl at the time. It's just jarring because of the difference. Btw I noticed that Ian McShane's voice was also noticeably lower in the Deadwood movie. I watched it immediately after a completely rewatch of the show and it was a huge difference. It was not only lower but much more gravelly.
I'll edit his scenes from High Incident next.
