New thread just to talk awards. Emmy noms come out in about six weeks I think. Speculation has already begun... Alan Sepinwall, who is somewhat biased behind a diehard Deadwood fan, picks Ian and Tim as the frontrunners for Best Actor in a Limited Series, and says Ian slightly has the advantage because he was embarrassingly overlooked during the TV show. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/alan-sepinwall-picks-nominated-2019-154634858.html

Matt Carter is also all about Tim, thinking he should be nominated for SCD, but he's been raving about Tim getting nominated for years. There is a poll at the bottom where you can vote for Tim: cartermatt.com/366845/emmys-actor-comedy-series-picks-2019/I'm not sure if Matt has done picks for Limited Series. My dream scenario would be Tim winning Emmys in two different categories. If only!

Woohoo for the Year of Tim, Part 2! I still remember when he had tears flowing when Margo Martindale won for that great and fabulous 2nd season of Justified! He should have won that year so it would be so sweet if he won for the Deadwood Movie AND then for OUATIH!!!!! I wonder if he would be funny in his acceptance speeches or if he would just be so happy and surprised that he would just be all teary and emotional Can't wait to find out!

Wow, I didn't think his part in OUATIH would be big enough to garner an Oscar nom, but yeah, bring it on! British film critic Mark Kermode did a TV program recently on what subjects tend to get Oscar love. Actors playing actors, and actors playing real-life characters are common themes, so Tim scores in both those categories with his James Stacey role.

British film critic Mark Kermode did a TV program recently on what subjects tend to get Oscar love. Actors playing actors, and actors playing real-life characters are common themes, so Tim scores in both those categories with his James Stacey role. I was surprised too but it depends on the performance. Viola Davis got a nomination for Doubt for I think two short scenes. She was amazingly powerful. And Judy Dench won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love for one scene. I think Kermode is right, plus, actors playing troubled actors really sells well and we know James Stacy was seriously effing troubled, considering his subsequent arrest for child molestation, even after his accident that cost him I think a leg and an arm. So you can only imagine what he was up to when he was healthy. I know there is that young girl acting against Leo's character in the Western with Stacy. I wonder if Quentin would go there with implications about Stacy skulking around this girl... that would really be memorable. That's just my speculation. He was billed pretty highly in the trailer so I'm really hoping he has a great role. And any Oscar buzz is new for him and puts him in a new light, career-wise. But either way, I'm so dying to see this!

The TCA Awards apparently don't have a lot of acting categories, just for Individual Achievement in Drama or in Comedy for men and one for women. I thought that was the award TO won already for The Grinder but that's the Critics Choice Television Awards.

Just two weeks to go before nominations come out: Think Tim thoughts!
Goldderby has Tim at 100/1 odds to win Best Actor in TV Movie/Miniseries, but Deadwood the favorite to win for Movie. www.goldderby.com/odds/combined-odds/emmy-awards-nominations-2019/Nobody is more in love with Bill Hader than I am but I'm kind of perturbed that he's suddenly every critic's favorite for actor. I think he's a national treasure and should be on the $100 bill, but he's just not a great actor. I think this is part of HBO's bloc-voting thing because I don't get it. I'd have no problem if the nom were for SNL but Barry is a somewhat serious role and at the expense of other comedic actors like Tim in SCD who are legit brilliant.

16/24 predicting it will win is pretty good odds. I have a good feeling about it winning as well. I'm really hoping Tim gets a nomination and win for best actor as well. It is so amazing to see how much he has evolved and changed from the first run of Deadwood to the movie. He wasn't bad before but man did he hit it out of the park when it came to the movie. He deserves some recognition for that.

Amen to Tim winning BIG this year! He was brilliant in the Deadwood movie and David Milch really made this an award-winning project all around! I'm still praying that HBO will want to keep Tim around for another project and I pray that project will be SCD! I love the intense and serious Tim, but I crave the gorgeous great husband and Dad of SCD! Maybe they will offer him the chance to develop his own comedy, like a Curb Your Enthusiam! I just need to see that Tim laugh and experience his yummy humor on the regular Can't wait to see him at all of the awards!

He seems to have an outside shot at Best Actor nom but he really deserves it. If he won it would be a huge upset since Mahershala Ali seems to have it sewn up. He was ridiculously good in True Detective. He played himself at 35, 45 and 70 (suffering from dementia) and just crushed it. I think he's everybody's pick to win. But you never know, Tim could pull off an upset! So could Ian if he gets nominated. The Emmy voters sometimes go with sentimental faves instead of the projected winner.

Yay for the Deadwood nom! At least that is a reason for Tim and all the others to be in the house and ready to party when they call Deadwood for the best TV movie!
They robbed Tim of his nom, though!

Those fuckers - I can't believe they didn't even give David Milch a nom for writing! All the noms for Game of Thrones for an epic disaster of a season... I'm lumping together the Emmy voters and ISIS as the two worst groups of people on this planet.

A lot of articles are listing Tim and Ian as snubs for best actor in a limited series/tv movie. One explained that since the actors in limited series have more tape to show they tend to have the edge over the TV movie actors.
They should split them into separate categories for acting so the TV movie actors actually have a shot at winning.
I’m so sick of the same shows and actors getting nominated and winning every year. I don’t watch GOT but from everything I’ve heard about this season it doesn’t deserve all the noms. They need to make an amendment to the Emmy rules that once a show/actor has won a category they can’t be nominated for the same thing in the same category for x years.

Chernobyl beat out Deadwood: The Movie for achievement in tv movie or miniseries at the TCA awards tonight. Deadwood was honored with the Heritage award and David Milch got the Career Achievement award. There haven't been many photos posted but it doesn't look like Tim was in attendance.

Ugh, unfair to combine those categories! Chernobyl was phenomenal but it was five times as long... of course it had a much stronger effect in the minds of the voters.
