I came across this blog and was reading down... found this entry from 2015. Did Kevin Smith seriously blame TO for Catch & Release not being a hit??? Where did he say that? I want to know exactly what he said so I can decide whether or not hate him forever. timothyolyphantjustified.com/timothy-olyphant-and-the-epic-kiss

I haven't seen anything where Kevin blames TO for the film not being a hit. He does appear to have a grudge though re: Tim criticising his acting, judging by this video: He talks about TO at about 2:01:35

I've never heard of anyone else having a problem with him though. They always describe him as such a nice guy. Unless Tim hated being on the set of Catch and Release and was being a giant dick because of it, it seems like Kevin is extremely insecure/jealous. What do you guys think?

Oh I just found this earlier thread here.... timothyolyphantfans.proboards.com/thread/301/kevin-smith From a few years ago but good commentary on Smith and his prima donna antics. The links for the blog of the actress who had the minor role on Justified are dead now so here they are: www.tonjakahlens.com/journal/2011/3/8/justifed-continued.htmlOK, sidebar, but WHO exactly was being the pain in the ass? I thought it was Amy Smart but to my surprise, she wasn't in either of the two episodes. Was it Joelle Carter? I'm shocked that she would be so difficult... Anyone know? I will have to look up these episodes and find the scene she's talking about. I can't imagine it would be Kaitlyn Dever, who played Loretta. Edited: I misunderstood, it wasn't on Justified but on another show someone from Justified worked on. Curious! She ran into TO later at a Dodger game and he was incredibly sweet to her: www.tonjakahlens.com/journal/2011/4/21/dodger-game.html

Based on the photo in the actress's blog, I think the episode was "Bloody Harlan" in season 2. Raylan gets the call from the trooper that Loretta's gone missing while driving Winona to work and they then go to Loretta's foster parents.

I was looking it up on IMDB trying to figure out who the diva actress before I realized they were talking about a different show lol. Still curious!

By the way I came across this old interview from 2007. (The MP3 is still a good link and it's much more enjoyable hearing Tim talk as opposed to reading it.) He talks about Kevin here and jokes about him having suggestions to change his own lines... and other people's lines. collider.com/timothy-olyphant-interviewed-catch-and-release/

I shoulda known the Kevin Smith issue would have been thoroughly discussed on this forum already! And thanks for the tonjakathens link. Kevin Smith aside, people who meet and work with Tim always comment how sweet he is.

Kevin Smith aside, people who meet and work with Tim always comment how sweet he is. Yes, I was really surprised at what Kevin Smith said but then I started reading more about him and his various beefs... I hadn't heard of any of them except the Southwest one where they kicked him off. Bruce Willis said Kevin was a giant whiner and I agree. He also seems incredibly insecure. He claims Jennifer Garner was offended when he was constantly making fun of Ben Affleck because she wouldn't lighten up and get that Kevin was just joking, but look who's talking... I'm sure Tim was just ribbing him on set. So Kevin seems to be someone who can dish it out but can't take it. Like the great Justified quote: "You run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. You run into assholes all day, you're the asshole."

I got the DVD for Catch & Release a few weeks ago. I must say I was very disappointed with the extras. Only a few short clips of an interview with Tim. A long section of Kevin Smith doing a screen test for his part and two sets of commentaries, one with Susannah Grant & Kevin Smith, and the other with Grant & the director of photography (can't remember his name). Smith mostly ignores the film & chats to Grant about her writing career. The DP said he preferred lighting womens faces & found Tim's face difficult to light because his eyes are deep-set and small !!!!!!! I was gob-smacked at that! Tim's got large, beautiful eyes, and judging from the many gorgeous stills from Justified that exploit the bone structure of his face to such great effect, how on earth good any even half decent photographer find his face difficult to light? The DP also commented that he'd wanted to shoot the (in)famous slapping/kissing scene in the tackle shed in silhouette. Grant wryly points out that seeing the expression on their faces was kind of the whole point of the scene.

Thank you, I was curious about that commentary and if KS was talking negatively about Tim at all.... I found an interview today (while trying to find out what the deal was with his problems with Tim) and it sounded like he was completely obnoxious and asking Susannah inappropriate things, like, like if her menstrual cycle synced with all the other women on that production (!) and if she got laid a lot during the filming. Oh so mature and witty.
