I was really hoping we would get Tim on Ellen again, it’s been a couple years since he was on last. Almost all the late night shows and Ellen are reruns this week. Ian was promoting some different projects (maybe Hellboy?) around the time Tim did promos for Missing Link. That’s the problem with actors having so many projects coming out in such a short time span. Between SCD, Missing Link, and Deadwood Tim could have been promoting projects for like 3 months straight but people don’t want to see the same guy on every talk show for 3 months. And it would be weird for him to do Seth Meyers and then be back on Seth a month later for Deadwood. Which I think would be awesome but the rest of the world doesn’t see it that way. I also wonder how much of it is Tim’s decision to be on the shows, we know he doesn’t really care for doing press but I think he genuinely enjoys being on Seth and Conan.

Between SCD, Missing Link, and Deadwood Tim could have been promoting projects for like 3 months straight but people don’t want to see the same guy on every talk show for 3 months. I was really hoping that Conan would have on about four or five of the main stars, the way he did for the Breaking Bad finale and others. I know his show is shorter now but they could keep a lot for online. At the same time, I'm not sure if Conan is a huge fan of Deadwood. He talks a lot about Justified but maybe hasn't seen this one? I feel like if he had been into Deadwood we would have seen Tim a lot from 2004-06. You either haven't really seen it, or you've seen and loved it and can't shut up about it. On the other hand, Bill Hader has been on every single talk show the last month, and was on Conan for the second time since January, promoting Barry, so I figured HBO would do a lot of promotion. Maybe Deadwood has enough word of mouth and built-in interest that they don't need it, or they are focusing their promotion on the critics and awards season. I think you're right with the idea of it being Tim's decision. He genuinely loves being on those shows. Rich Eisen too. He even went on Conan for his very small roles in Snowden and This is Where I Leave You, and he was supposed to do Seth just for Hold Onto Me Darling. I don't think he was even really promoting anything for the time he went on Conan in April 2016 that has ruined me for anyone else in Hollywood. However, I'm HOPING that Tim's absence the last few weeks means we may get him back out doing shows when OUATIH comes out in July. We've really been spoiled this year but the people demand more Tim!

I couldn't remember if Bill Hader had already been on Conan once this year or not. Tim really wasn't promoting anything when he did Conan back in February. I think SCD was very briefly mentioned but no clips or anything like that. I think it was just Tim helping Conan out since he did a test show for Conan back before the new show aired. I think sometimes if talk shows don't have a guest or someone cancels a lot of the time the host will call up a friend to come on if they can't find a guest on short notice so that could be why Tim was on back in 2016 without promoting anything. I think he also likes doing Ellen (at the very least he likes the free underwear) but he hasn't been on Ellen for a couple of years now. I don't think he was on last year for the SCD press tour.
I'm also really surprised by the lack of press for Deadwood. It seems HBO has done more written press and podcasts than anything for it. There has been a lot of hype on Twitter and Instagram it seems so maybe they just figure word of mouth is enough.
Maybe we will get Tim on Conan again for OUATIH. I'm still kind of confused as to why he did so much for Missing Link considering he had a smaller part in that. I'm not complaining about it but it would have made more sense to me for him to do more press for SCD season 3 or Deadwood than Missing Link since he is basically first billed for both.

Excellent talk (& they outed that Twitter jerk as a fake). I called him out on Twitter after the show aired and pointed out that Tim was talking to Rich Eisen when one of his tweets was posted. I got blocked, as i figured I would be. I see the account is set to private. At least Tim is now aware that someone is pretending to be him on twitter. I wouldn't care so much except this guy is saying Tim is going through a bitter divorce and making things up about his personal life which is totally uncool. All of the divorce tweets had been deleted before I got blocked, I hope Tim at least has someone from his team keep an eye on the account or that Rich informed him of some of the inappropriate tweets. The guy also posted a bunch of pics/videos about "Tim's" watch collection, Tim almost never even wears watches so I highly doubt he collects them. On another note, I saw on instagram that the Rich Eisen Show posted a couple videos of Tim on their story. I grabbed them from insta.

Good for you spotting the timing, I retweeted your tweet.

Love the first one especially.
I really hope he does fill in, even for one day! I am dying to see how he would do on the other side of the interview chair.

I’m hoping for the same thing. Tim seemed genuinely interested in hosting. I hope it works out for him to do it.
