for a Justified movie....we have gifted writers on this forum and true lovers of the show as well. Now that he has conquered the comedic sitcom and given the world a view of his range of talent...can we discuss his flare for the dramatic? Walton has already voiced a desire to return to Harlan. Joelle is busy on Chicago Justice but likely could be persuaded to make a Justified movie. Even Natalie who has her own hit in Detour likely could be talked into a movie. So concepts? Ideas? It means us old timers must come back and add to the fun as well as the many new and my guess younger members are asked for their ideas....no pressure just a good time remembering Raylan, Boyd, Ava and Winona. Plus Art, Tim and even Rachel if you can bring her back to Lexington. I did think....what if Winona and Richard are "gone" and Raylan is now father and mother. Willa's bloodlines are Kentucky...remember he said he knew Winona was from Kentucky the moment they met...so maybe Raylan brings her back to Lexington....and maybe to the offered help from Art and Leslie?  And with Raylan in Kentucky the door opens to Boyd somehow finding out about his own son and revenge will drive him to escape.....will he seek his son or revenge? And Ava? Knowing all Raylan has done for her will she risk her own life to help Raylan? Sure hope this thread gets a reaction. Not to my concept but to yours..... |

I think if they ever decide to make a Justified movie, it will probably be a few years before it happens. Everyone seems to be busy with new projects and I think they'll probably want the nostalgia to kick in!
I'm all for Richard being "gone", ripetebook, but not Winona! Winona would have to be in any movie I'd watch - she's my favourite character! ;-)
Boyd looked so comfortable in prison being the big fish in the small pond & having his "congregation " around him, that I'd imagine the only things that would make him try to escape would be finding out about Ava and/or his son. Boyd as a fugitive would be an excuse to get the gang back together! I could also imagine the marshals using Boyd as a CI to try to bring down a bigger criminal.
I really hope we do get a Justified movie at some stage & we get to see our favourite characters again!

I see your point on keeping Winona....I used the "gone" as a way to bring Raylan with Willa back to Kentucky!!!!
They are all doing comedy and yet have time to do more and a good mix of drama/comedy would be welcome. Plus Justified could be forgotten if we wait too long.
Boyd's conversion never lasts and to know Raylan lied to keep ava and son away from him....That man is a bitter man! Remember "he is the outlaw!!!"
Just fun thinking up script ideas....

My preference would be for Richard to disappear as suddenly as he appeared! I guess I'm still kinda bitter that they married Winona off in the series finale to some random character we'd never heard of before! ;-).
If you want to get Willa & Raylan back to Kentucky, you could have Winona & Willa being there to visit Gail & Raylan being there for work i.e. Boyd! Although, if Boyd is going to go after Ava & she's still hiding out in California, then it would be more of a cross country manhunt and they wouldn't be in Kentucky for long! If the writers have Boyd & the marshals find out about Ava, I'd be really curious to see how they'd not have Raylan lose everything over what he did.
Whatever story choice the writers make, I hope they'll try and include all our favourite characters.

Think Boyd! He can be bitter and did say he would get out and kill Ava and then Raylan. Now replay that last scene....Boyd will realize Raylan came there to protect Ava and Zach from Boyd. Remember who put Boyd behind bars!!!!
The fun thing here is the creative fun of story ideas. I love the drama and comedy that made Justified the gem we all loved and all miss....Reread how Timothy and Walton. How much they miss that creative fun of being Raylan and Boyd.

I know TO has said in interviews that he's always thought of Justified as a comedy. The humor & dialogue were definitely a big part of what I enjoyed about the show. Even in it's most dramatic storylines there was usually a vein of humour running through it.
As far as a possible storyline for any future movie, I'd be afraid that a "Boyd out for revenge against Raylan" storyline would end with one or both of them dying or them in ending up in prison. I think I'd prefer if they just have Raylan using Boyd as a CI and if Boyd does find out about Ava that it wouldn't be until the end of the movie & we'd get a second movie to follow up on that!
With the series finale wrapping up Raylan's time in Kentucky, I wonder would they ever consider basing a movie on a completely new storyline that doesn't involve Kentucky with all new characters.

Good points. But one very reason to come back could involve Harlan and Raylan is that Harlan boy!!!! And there is Art and Tim....Heck even Nelson!!!! Art needed him once to bring down Boyd....Be fun if Boyd is now the solution and not the problem!!!!!
And yeah end of the first movie could be the discovery that Ava is alive and a mother....Leading us to campaign for a second movie!!!! Prove justified was the award deserving show....Allow Timothy and Walton to visit parts they excelled at....

They could also base a storyline in Florida and have Art and Tim come to Miami on a case & have them get Raylan's help. I've been re-reading my favourite Justified fanfics lately - makes me miss the show even more! Unfortunately, with the show over there aren't as many fanfics being posted as previously.

Boyd gets out because he informs on someone who is a much, much bigger fish in prison (think terrorism or the like). Ava and her son go on the run when he gets out. Boyd kidnaps Willa to force Raylan into action because he wants to flee the country with his own kid. Tim Olyphant makes $10 million from the movie, wins an Emmy and loves the script idea so much he makes out with me for three hours straight. IT WILL HAPPEN.  |

Great story....With one addition....Winona and Raylan have another attempt at togetherness...Giving Willa a sibling. A boy with his father's eyes and smile....
And the line of those who get Timothy....Omaze could make serious donation to whatever if Tim was the prize!!!!!

Tim wearing glasses, not wearing glasses; in bed and out of bed; ALL Tim is hot as hell! As long as he doesn't start eating people like Drew does, it's all good  I'd LOVE a Justified movie as a romantic comedy with a funny Raylan in only his underwear for the whole 2 hours |

There actually was a movie featuring Raylan Givens back 1997. It was an adaptation of Pronto and Raylan was played by James LeGros (who we all know as Wade Messer in Justified)  I haven't seen the film or read the book so I don't know how much of it has already used in Justified plots. It does involve Raylan being based in Miami and travelling internationally so I guess there could quite a lot that could be adapted into a new Justified film that hasn't been done already. On IMDB there is a quote:
Raylan Givens: I'm gonna give you twenty-four hours to get out of this county. That means you have, oh, until two-fifteen tomorrow afternoon. If I see you around here after that, I won't hesitate to shoot you on sight. You got any questions? Tommy 'the Zip' Bucks: The fuck you talkin' about?
Raylan Givens: That's your question? So that's clearly the day before the opening scene in the pilot episode. Possible prequel to the series? |

Elmore Leonard said watching and listening to Timothy he saw and heard the man he wrote as Raylan!!!! Why he wrote that Raylan book....Based on the TV version of Raylan. And that version is Timothy......

Rachel's classic description has always defined Raylan's presence in Lexington."handsome white man with a shitload of swagger.". That defines Raylan to a T.
